Windows 10 Clean Install question?

When I upgraded from 7 to 8, at the time I paid $40 and I downloaded the OS with the Microsoft install media, it asked me if I wanted to do the upgrade, burn it to CD or USB. I burned it to a USB and then rebooted and wiped my windows only ssd and did the install. My windows 8 key they gave me worked and it activated. I'm assuming this is how it will work for 10 as well.
