winchester 3000+ temps

right now im prime95 testing my winnie at 2.61GHz, 290HTT. my load temp is 54C, and my idle is around 32C. stock heatsink with AS5.

I have an Abit mobo, but my temps are like yours +6 degrees, so that sounds about right since my board has been known to 'exaggerate' the temps.

34-35 idle, 54 full with stock heatsink + modified 120mm fan.

Msi temps vary 1-2º up or do on almost every reboot... 😀

how do you modify a 120mm fan on your stock heatsink?

i just found a magical setting in my bios that throttles the fan up to keep the cpu at a desired speed. i set it at 52C, so the fan isnt maxed but the cpu is cooled well enough. is 1.54 vcore too much for 2.6GHz on a 3000+ stormgiant? i see you are only using 1.5. i failed prime96 last night though, and i figured id give it some more juice to seeif it helps 🙁

I've set 1.45 and + 5.5% on BIOS and cpuz reads 1.504 on the down curve and 1.510 on the up.

Gonna try to get a mesure with the multimeter to see whats the real voltage.

Because i'm still working the best config, i work a little over real need. Once i know where to stabilize, i'll see what the best vcore for it.

29 C idle 38 C full load (prime95 + hl2) using a coolance exos water cooler
running at 2520 mhz (280 fsb)
1.5 vcore
still testing, i think i can get this thing to 2.65

haha, nice phr0m.
so storm, i am diffenately over-volting my processor? cpuz reads 1.52 on down, 1.55 on up :S:S. god, i just saw your ram in your sig!!! 3.41v?!?!? is thar ram normally DDR200?!?!?! niceeee 😀
not to boss a senior member around or anything, but ive heard that setting a ram devider dosnt really lower performance any...i have my ram set at a 166 devider in bios. that way, you dont risk anything with 3.41 volts :S

ok, got my 3000+ running at 2.62 right now with a 1:1 ratio to my mem, my mem timings are at 2-2-2-5 and i'm running prime right now to see if its stable (hope it is)
temp idle: 29C
temp load: 39 C (full blast on all exos fans aka turbo mode)
just one qestion though for some strange reason my mobo wont go past post when i put the timmings at 233 or 3:2 ratio........ I think that would be the sweet spot if i could get that to run my mobo is asus A8v deluxe, ram: 2x dual channel kingston hyperX (4 sticks) = 1gb
anyone no what would be a better ram setting?

damn...i dont see how any ram could run 1:1 at those timings...290MHz?!?!? my DDR500 ram maxes at about 270MHz i belive.

Hehe... They are BH-5 chips and can run very good up to 3.6/3.7V. Some people with extreme systems and cooling have got to 4.0V with about 300fsb !!! I just got the OCZ Booster 2 days ago, and i'm experimenting what is the best config for them.

I'm already running the 183 unoficial divider. Later i'll try to play with volts and timmings to try to get 200, or 10 dividor over the cpu speed, as is more proper to describe it 🙂

I'm also waiting on my WC block for the cpu to reactivate the circuit 😀

I don't think you are overvolting. I've seen people running 1.6/1.62v on a64 without problems ( that i know of ).

well actually when running in a 1:1 ratio it is half the speed of ddr400 (ddr200 i guess) because a really tight ratio and what most people with good ram would try for would be a 2:1 ratio ddr400. I havent been able to get my system to be 100% stable at 2.6, but 2.5 it seems alright..... anyone know what i'm doing wrong here
changed HTT to 800
1.55 vcore
ram 1:1 ratio
2T disabled = 1T
agp 1.6v
ram 2.6 v
anything else i need to change to get 2.6 stable?

What are we reading from???

9x294= 2646mzh w/ 1.52v

speedfan = idle 31-32c.....load 48-50c

corecenter = idels 35-36c.....load 54c

about a 4c difference....

3000+ @ 2.5GHz, 1.45V
?? idle, 42C load Zalman CNPS 7000A AlCu w\ Arctic Alumina, Epox 9NDA3+

oc'd 3000+ winnie to 2.25 ( stock volts 🙂 )

25C Idle and around 31C Load - Zalman 6000B copper Heatsink/Fan 🙂

i love my coolness

My 3000+ with stock hsf, and no overclocking is running at 20C idle, and the other day, it was freezing(almost) in my room and the cpu was 12-15C, is that possible? Is my bios reading it wrong.
