visualization plugins are still in development, although i dont see much use for them personally.

what does KMGardiner Dynamic DSP Volume control v1.0 do? i am assuming its some kind of replaygain imitation sans clipping attenuation.

Streamripper - parses music to mp3's <-- music as in cdda->mp3 conversion? use EAC foo! :p who needs to make mp3s when you could just easily make MPCs and FLACs? lack of storage space is no exucse, i just picked up a 120gb hdd for $30 AR today. dvds are even cheaper, $10 for a 50 pack!

Crossfading Directsound output v1.35b <-- directsound uses kmixer = unacceptable sound quality on more revealing setups. ks/asio is the only way for most folks into quality music listening while some minority claim waveout is ok for them. directsound is reportedely on brighter side in general (compared to waveout)

Many 'sleek' skins also <-- use foo_tunes. I would still take columns_UI over anything else. show me something better, and i might switch to that.

Dunno why you have this attitude against my comment, or is it against winamp in general >?
nothing against you, i love you anandtechers (well, not in the same way nebor does but anyway). i been using winamp 2.xx for quite some time and couldnt be any happier after migrating to the fb2k camp. comparing winamp to foobar2k is like comparing an imac to full blown a64 rig :)

no offense, but, you got a 'chip' on your shoulder

I'm not here to 'teach' you what my plugins do.

I'll take a look at Foobar.

Well, it's the best Windows mp3/ogg/whatever player I've found.
Never liked Foobar2K, but maybe I'll take another look to see if it's improved.

By the way, does anyone know if there is a jump function in Foobar?

what is a jump fuction? like shuffling in playlist or the scrollbar? comes with 5 different modes of shuffling and a fully functional scroll bar you can stretch to full screen width.
foobar has always had global hotkeys from the earliest release as far as i can remember. some 300+ actions you can chose from while at it :)

No, just pressing "j" in Winamp will pop up a window that matches what you type against the play list in a *whateveryoutype* fashion.
This is one function that I won't be without, since my playlist is some 5000 songs long.

I sure do, has several handy plugins I've just gotta have for various things.

I got the latest version now though where they fixed the problem.

i am still not sure if this is what you meant, but you can ctrl+F and type away to match a song against the playlist in *whateveryoutype* fashion.
make sure you check out columns_UI if you havnt yet; basically you can have 50+ playlists (or however many you want) open at the same time and cycle through them at will. works like a charm :)

Yeah, that's it, much to slow in Foobar though, which is really the problem I've had with all other players, they don't seem to handle large playlists well.

For those of you planning to try foobar, be sure to go with the "special installer." You should notice it on the main page right under the normal installer. It includes many more plugins and options, such as playing the various types of ROM music files such as NES, SNES, Playstation, and whatever else is out there. That's something I personally like.

Also, if you are like me and want one centralized player for audio files, the "special installer" is the only one that comes with .wma support (that I know of).

well doesnt seem too slow to me on my mobile barton. according to your sig, none of your amd machines would be slow in this regard either :) then again, why have a long playlist when you can have multiple plalists showing at the same time or use que sheets?

I just like having one big playlist, been having it that way since...well since I started using mp3's/ogg's. :)
