WINAMP 5

Holy crap. Winamp5 is *outstanding*.

I, and friends of mine, had recently switched to iTunes because of the ability to create "smart playlists", or playlists that fulfill certain search conditions. Winamp5 steps an entire level above iTunes' ability and adds SQL style querying. This is especially useful for people with a large number of MP3 collections, and makes a large collection far more manageable, and enjoyable.

Furthermore, Winamp's stability is far greater than iTunes in Windows, as my computer slowed to a crawl b/c of the terrible memory/cpu leaks in iTunes, which I have not yet (and don't expect to) experience in Winamp5.

My hats off to Nullsoft. Thank you for making my music experience more enjoyable.

I installed the Lite version of WA5, but all I see is the same, old skin? Where is this new, white/bluish skin you see in the promotions?

right click on the player - click on skins - choose "winamp modern"

this is looking very sweet....if it works well with iPod's bye-bye iTunes.

Yeah, I guess you need the full version.

another nice thing i noticed is you can tell it to scan your music folder for changes. So, you dont have to manually add music everytime like you do with iTunes.

Uses more ram for me. Winamp 2.5 uses about 10mb (jumped from 188mb to 198 mb used once started. doesn't make a difference if I have it minimized or not.

Winamp 5 uses about 20mb minimized, 26mb when it's on top.

Still its WAY better then itunes and it's not like I'm going to miss that extra 16mb
