so far it has the one single worst bug that made me use Winamp2.8 instead of Winamp3 beta. Usualy I dock it near the start button (lower left corner) and then I double click the tab to make it bigger, both the basic winamp player and the playlist editor, with winamp2 it pops up when it cant pop down, but with version 3 it always pops down:| anoying as hell.

back to winamp2.8 for me:frown:

another bug with this pos "BETA" player, when playing video files it doesnt use the hardware overlay correctly so my g400 doesnt output the video to the tv:|

this should never have been the final

Uuh ooh. Check Winamp's front page. Seems they are going all the way with promoting the AOL-infected version 3, and are trying to hide version 2 away in the corner. This isn't good.

Over 3 megs? Geez talk about bloatware.
What ever happened to the less than half a meg days?

If anyone needs an older winamp, grab it from here.

i like the vid player. altho it plays some divx files upsidedown?!??? but not w/ media player.

i think the video player is better than media player... altho, i would still rather have two separate programs.. to keep my mp3 player streamlined and unbloated, but still have a vast skin library.. heh.. guess it's back to winamp 2.x (and i liked the fact that 3.0 didn't mess up my tooltips.. 2.8 seems to do that... i'll try the older versions and see if they do too).

I installed it. Tried a video, the thing crashed, so I uninstalled it 5 minutes later.

Installed it, the sound sounds a bit richer than 2.80. I also tried the media player. I like it. It seems to correct the Blockiness of Divx better than the player I use normally (Windows Media Player 7.1).

Seriously people, try out QCD. It is not bloated. Has a plugin for alpha-transparency (I use it, quite nice). And it plays all audio formats quite nicely (mp3, ogg, wma, wav, etc...). So it doesn't have video, well WMP, QT and Real are good for that (and only that).

Uhhh..........Real.............did you say Real? You are Satan himself aren't you?

Real Networks are the only sources of evil on the net. Without Real Network, the internet would be a good place.

Unfortunately, many companies out there decide to put things out in Real Audio/Video streams. Much as I'd rather not use their software, I am sometimes forced too. My company loves to use it for the quarterly reports to employees from upper management. Of course, the irony is that the Real player registration always fails because it can't negogiate the firewall/proxy at work.

So yes, I hate Real, but sometimes its all you've got to choose from.

Placebo effect. WinAMP 3 shouldn't sound any different than 2.80.

Actually yeah it would if it uses the high-quality EQ that was in Winamp 2.8 (go in mp3 options and deselect "fast EQ").
But I dunno, it seems Winamp3 got rid of most of the options that were in winamp2 and I don't know how to get to such a menu if one even exists anymore. They dumbed down the program too much for me.

Actually, Winamp 3.0 was re-coded from the ground up, including the MP3 decoder. It was previously called Nitrane in versions prior to 3.0. Not sure if they still call it nitrane or not. So its very very possible that with good ears, MP3's can sound better. This new engine is supposed to be much closer to the MP3 spec. Nitrane was off slightly.

The 2.80 version on the site also contains AOL spammage.

I have been using MoodLogic with Winamp 2.8 until now. Yesterday I installed Winamp 3 on top of my old Winamp 2.8, then reinstalled Moodlogic to get it to work with Winamp 3. When I fired up Winamp 3, the Moodlogic splash screen appeared for a second, then Winamp 3 came up with the original skin, right after that the Moodlogic window came up, after which Winamp 3 reappeared with the Moodlogic skin. At this point about 4 dozen error messages popped up and Winamp 3 shut itself down. I have not been able to isolate the source of the problem, but I suspect that there is some conflict between Moodlogic 2.1 and Winamp 3, since Winamp 3 worked without Moodlogic, and Moodlogic 2.1 also works fine with Winamp 2.8. I am not about to give up using Moodlogic, so it's back to Winamp 2.8 for me.

And yes, Winamp 3 did seem kind of slow. Why they had to add video playback capabilities is beyond me... Especially since it wasn't working properly. I tried to play an mpeg-1 file that has a slightly odd resolution, and the video was completely out of sync, plus Winamp only showed the top left corner of the video.

Is anyone else using Moodlogic with Winamp? If so, did you have any success with Winamp 3?
