It's out right now. I'm downloading it now (Build 2180).

It's on the Windows Beta site and you have to be a registered beta tester to download it.

Damn you beta testers 😛

I'm sure it'll appear on IRC with Microsoft's digital signature soon enough, though.

Site is getting pounded anyways, I can't even get far enough to sign in.

Jeez I can't believe the number of people that are going to reformat their systems for this thing. For crying out loud people unless you don't know what the hell you're doing the only time you should need to do a reformat/reinstall is if you've upgraded your hardware.

would it be wrong to post a bittorrent to the final version (if i were to have it)? or is that illegal/against forum rules for me to post and/or know about it

and/or a link to directly download the RTM final that is not on microsofts site?

If you really know what you are doing, you shouldn't even have to r/r with a hardware upgrade. I'm guessing though, that these people like to "test the waters" with software, as I do. Trying out new stuff, installing and uninstalling betas or opensource stuff, tweaking Windows settings... all this can add up to left behind files, broken links, and orphaned registry keys. Cleaning all this up is easier done with a fresh install. Besides, I want to see how the new features in SP2 work with a clean install and all at defaults.

Does everyone's splash screen at startup look like this? Notice something missing?

I remember seeing that on the RC versions. Seems strange that this would be left like this on RTM products.

Now the only way to distinguish (upon startup anyways) Pro from Home is the colour of the animated bar. Home is yellow-green and Pro is blue.

Cheers!

Where'd you get your copy of SP2 from? Did it match the publicized checksum (whether from MS or not)?

heh I've only upgraded one machine to SP2 and I don't have it with me to check.

I haven't formatted my main computer for about 2 or 3 years now... I've went through tons of different hardware, different hard drives it's been on... I mean it gets pounded and I still haven't had the need to reformat.
