Win 10 Fall Upgrade.

I think the activation key change clears up how people with Retail Windows 7/8.1 who upgraded to Windows 10 will be able to do an install and activate Windows 10 on a new set of hardware. Just install 10 fresh, type in your Windows 7/8.1 retail key, and presto.

This upgrade needs to come very soon.... Just got a 500gb Evo 850 to replace my small, 128gb MX100 and I'm planning on upgrading to Windows 10. Might as well wait till the fall upgrade rolls out.

With that said, fallout 4 releases tomorrow but i don't want to go thru the hassle of installing everything twice (or copying files to new drives and such). Therefore, I'm waiting till this rolls out to get going.

I'm glad that I did a clean install of 10 on Saturday which is just in time for this update.

Usually, it is better to do a clean install with the 'fall update' from the iso they will release.

So, fence sitters should just wait a bit for MS to get the iso out.

One thing that wasn't mentioned within the write-up in the OP is that two snapped apps can have their windows resized simultaneously now.

Usually? This is the first time they have done a major update for win10. I suspect it will be similar to a sp install. Never did a clean install with that.

I meant for all major updates, not just this one.
I just like my systems clean, with nothing to get in the way of updates, which happens more often than you think.

Some of them are nice improvements, but I guess that Edge without extensions is still a great downside. Well, maybe for the next release.

I've been delaying upgrade to Win10 because I don't want to do the upgrade just to do the clean install afterwards. Hoping they'll release this into the wild soon, I want to upgrade my tablet and HTPC, even got new SSD for my main desktop, just waiting on MS to release the update.

Yeah, I've seen some people saying they're already downloading. I presume they're all already on Win10 and just downloading it as an update.

So... does anybody know if I'll have to use the ISO/media creation tool, or if Microsoft will just provide an ISO to download?

No, I'm still on W7 and it showed up as an optional update...:thumbsdown::thumbsdown: ...already checked to download.

Looks like Windows Deployment Tools have also been updated for anyone looking to download the ISO/USB to do a clean install.

Nice, will be installing Win10 on my tablet this evening. Woot.

PS Can anyone explain, why do we even need the ISO creation tool? Why can't Microsoft just put ISO image to download?
