VL if you hate MS so bad go hang out in the Linux forums and leave this thread alone. Windows 10 rocks and is absolutely the best OS from Redmond ever. I'm waiting for a windows 10 powered smart watch that I can sync up with my pc's and my MS account. 😛

Does anyone have Win10 Enterprise? I read that the media creation tool will not work to upgrade that version. I've checked several times and the update isn't appearing in Windows Update. Do I just wait? Has anyone gotten to update from windows update running Win 10 Enterprise?

The tool doesn't work on Enterprise. I haven't seen the update come through the Windows update channel on the one lone Windows 10 PC we have at work yet.

Not really. I was just really enthusiastic about the new release, I just installed it, and it gives a user experience much like, or even better than, Windows 7. (IMHO the best version of Windows so far.)

And I thought that this was an enthusiast forum. Didn't realize that criticizing Win10 and suggesting an alternative, was disallowed on here. *Shrug*

Come on, you've been on the forums 14+ years, you know perfectly well the concept of remaining on topic. And going off on a random tangent about Linux Mint or whatever isn't anywhere close to on topic for the thread.

Just take the 2 seconds to uninstall something you're not using and move on.

Pretty simple really...takes more time to get on the internet and whine about it than it does to uninstall it.

Except a number of the pre installed apps require powershell to uninstall which does take a touch longer than 2 seconds. If Microsoft just allowed all of their apps to be uninstalled with a right click>uninstall it would be an improvement.

Speaking of background apps, has anyone here encountered this?

That Win10 has a lot more background CPU usage than Win7?

I've found it to be true, myself. My MeegoPad T02 Compute Stick with Win10 Pro 32-bit on it, seems to chew up 20% CPU in the background, constantly.

It goes down a few percentage points, if I go into one of the menus, and disable a bunch of the background "Apps".

Still, it seems like Win10 does a heck of a lot more background processing than Win7.

Edit: To be even more on-topic, I was asking this, and would like to ask also if this new Fall update, reduces the background CPU usage compared to RTM?

Not at all. The disk was less than 50% full. Bottom line is, I was able to fix it by running CMD as Admin as described above.
Weird, I've done "compact /compactos:query" on my test systems and it has been off before during and after the update. Usually Windows enables compression when it's low on space or maybe the specific content of your drive triggered it. At any case, it's best to keep it off unless you need the save a few gigs of space.

Could be, especially with all the telemetry going on. Windows XP was the last windows that was easy on CPU/IO system at all times unless you installed additional features like Windows Search thru an update.

I created the USB twice and test on 3 different laptop/PC and they all stuck at the partition screen, said can not locate the volume. Any idea?

Sounds like you have a bad installer. You should create a new usb installation and try again or burn a dvd which is the method I used on my desktop and laptop. I used the media creation tool to upgrade in place my tablet.
