It is a Movie about religion... sadly you can't please everybody and it will always be controversial! However the whole Anti-Semitism charge seems to be a little overblown. COME ON... do you really think Mel Gibson is an Anti Semite?! Get real!
Exactly. If you'd trouble yourself to STOP being offended for one hot minute you'll see that Mel Gibson is trying to take the most "authentic" route in creating the film. Of COURSE it's going to piss people off. Of COURSE there will be people who disagree with the content of the film. You have a 1000+ year old book that's been rewritten and translated a hundred times with each single passage able to be interpreted a thousand different ways. Because of the nature of the book, no matter how you interpret it you're going to cause one group or another to feel they've been wronged because it doesn't jibe with their teachings. The only way to make a movie like this successful is to make it appealing to the largest common denominator of the viewer demographic, who, incidentally, is NOT the Jews. Just because the Jews don't see it the same way / don't believe that's what happened / don't want to admit that happened doesn't mean it's not one of the thousand historical interpretations and therefore "anti-semitic."
And any of you parainoid weirdos who think that this movie will start huge rashes of anti-semitic notions across the country, get real. You're probably the type of people who won't go outside just because a meteorite MIGHT come out of the sky and hit you.
