Everytime I try to install office 97, on a my new system with w2k pro, I get an error saying it don't run 16 bit software. Am I just screwing up somewhere?

Personaly, I don't have it installed, but they do have office 97 on my moms computer at work which runs win2k. There shoulden't be a problem.

What service pack level is your W2K at? Perhaps updating to the latest service pack may help.

XP home also runs Office97 just fine, friend has it loaded.

I know you're probably just trying to be a jackass, but in general, MS products don't have backwards compatibility issues. Office 97 works fine with 2k.

I wasnt trying to just be a jackass. I had seen a lot of problems with 2k/xp and Office 97 on various boards and whatnot. The 16bit emulator or whatever for 2k seems to be a little flakey at times and thought that may be another problem. I just stated it in a jackassish way 😉

It's not flakey. No one knows how to configure 16 bit apps properly is all.
