Yeah, I'm only using DoorDash because my Chase Sapphire Reserve gave me two free years of DashPass, which for qualifying restaurants (about 75% of them in my area of Orlando) eliminates the service fee plus delivery fee, so literally all I'm paying for is a tip, which is usually between $3-$6 depending on distance and total order amount. My understanding is that the subscription costs of DashPass are intended to cover the service fee + delivery fee, of which the latter goes entirely to the driver, at least, so they're still getting their cut from that for DashPass orders on top of the tip.
There's a couple times I've ordered from restaurants not part of the DashPass program. One formerly was but left it (presuming it costs extra restaurant fees to be enrolled in this) and I decided to order anyway because it's one of my favorite places. It's about a 10 minute car drive away, max. Service fee was $2 and delivery fee $3, so $5 more expensive than when it was a DashPass place. I alternate between going to pick up there and continuing to use DashPass, depending on what I've got going on. Another place is about 15 minutes away, and I get charged a $4 service fee and $6 delivery fee, so I absolutely do not use the app for them; I'll just go pick it up myself. Asking for $10 in fees is pretty steep.
Two years from now when my free pass expires, I'll probably cut my usage down by 90%. May still use it sparingly here and there. The service itself is generally good, and I've only had one minor issue with the food received missing a small side item, out of the 30-40 times I've used it. Another time the driver dropped my food off at our next door neighbor, but we just walked over and grabbed it.
