Wow. As much as people hate George Bush for what he has done as President, the Anti-Clinton crowd makes them look like sissies!.
Have you ever, ever seen such hatred, lies, innuendo against someone who has only been a short term Senator?
In fact, the only Democrat I can think of who was so hated, villified and smeared by the Republicans was Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
Maybe its a sign that Hillary is going to be a great President.

It's not because those on the Right are trying to discredit someone who has a 50/50 chance of being the Left's candidate in the general election...

...it's just that Hillary is so transperant (like Romney and Edwards) and Obama is so much not so that really it's like talking about something everyone already knows: It's just fun to talk about.

As hard as it'll be to pick between an Obama vs. McCain choice, that's the only real outcome I'm hoping we end up with...although RP winning would be pretty cool. Not because all his ideas are great (some are scary frankly when applied to the real modern world), however it'd be great to have a check on the corruption and lobby-induced voting/appropriation politicians in Washington, and I think RP would be good at that task.

But, that'll never happen, so, please Dem's and Rep's, give us a Obama vs. McCain choice!!!

Slow down, Hoss. There's enough BS being flung from both sides, and Edwards is the only one left to play the adult in the crowd. :p

I hope someone's working get beyond it.

You back up your assertions so very well, and with so many varied examples.

Democrats need to get working on getting Romney the republication nomination and forget about this Hillary/Obama thing. If McCain gets it he will win in November . He is not liked by those on the far left or far right but he seems to appeal to the moderates and independents.

Given your posting record of late, the only sign is that diehard Clinton fans are as bad, if not worse, than the diehard Bush worshipers.

The big difference is that it seems like the diehard bushies have gotten a grip on reality and don't defend him too much as they are beginning to see the truth about him. The clintonians on the other hand are as deluded as ever. It is ironic and pathetic that the clintonians who hate bush so much are going to try to put the same type of person in office. People are blind. It is their pride and hatred that blinds them it seems.

Strangely the Republicans themselves aren?t saying much. All this anti-Clinton stuff you are seeing is come from the media and even fellow Democrats.

Wait until the fall and then you will REALLY see the anti-Clinton stuff start to fly.

It's not really smearing when its just facts, and its also more than just republicans 'smearing' her. Unless you are saying that i'm a republican, among others on this forum who obviously aren't.

it's interesting, most of the haters seem to be men. you don't hear of many women who have that crazy, incoherent rage towards Hillary. which makes you wonder if much of the hatred is motivated by sexism. someone needs to do a psychological study on the men who hate Hillary. Why do they hate her so much? Gloria Steinam raised one possibility in her ny times essay:

"children are still raised mostly by women (to put it mildly) so men especially tend to feel they are regressing to childhood when dealing with a powerful woman.."

I read the other day that she was voted most admired women in the USA for the past 6 years running. so there must be plenty of people in your country who admire her, along with the haters.

could it possibly be that women are supporting hillary in spite of her failings simply because she is a woman? Bias and bigotry is a two way street, and women are more than capable of it.

unfortunately, there isn't much competition. The lack of prominent women in leadership, government, media, military, etc is pretty profound; her competition is Oprah and Angelina Jolie and Nancy Pelosi and handful of others that aren't coming to mind atm.

Furthermore, its possible to admire someone and be horrified by the thought of them being president. Is hillary someone worthy of being admired? Certainly, shes accomplished alot, made a very successful transition into political office and such. Do I personally give a shit that she is a woman? No not really, i tend to like people of the opposite sex. Does that mean that I really want to individual woman to be president? No.

Maybe, but do we really want base our elections on it? Shouldn't it be on things like issues, trust, competence, etc than voting for a woman because she is a woman or a black man because he is black or a mormon because he is mormon?

And Bush tends to win as most admired man too, as does any sitting President. Doesn't really prove a whole lot.
