Will the gas prices affect your next car purchase?

Bought an '05 Honda CR-V just over a year ago, so I don't think my next car purchase is going to be anywhere in the near future.

Yes, if gas price keeps going up and staying up, I will get a Civic. No hybrid yet, the technology is still too new. I will get a hybrid when its MPG is 100 or more

For another 7Gs you can install more batteries and have the civic run like a electric car(you plug it in to your house to charge) or for long trips you engage the engine to produce electrical power. The prototype gets about 250MPG

Dag. Must have no power at all
Sh!t like this pisses me off.

When will you peoplel realize that electric motors are superior to Internal Combustion Engines?

Don't get me wrong, I love engines, but... If we had better energy storage devices, we would not be using them. Electric motors are superior in every aspect.

Think about this: They produce maximum torque from 0RPM.

It's 91.9p PER DAM LITRE in England. Last week it was 89.9p.

I just live with it and I drive a car that gets 32mpg thats 10yrs old.

Without a friggin doubt, it's going to. There's no reason why prices should go back to what they were 5 years ago... and a better chance it'll keep going up. If the oil companies don't see demand dropping at $4/gal (why should they), it's going to go up to $5/gal... if they don't see it dropping then, it's going to go up again.

No. I'm probably getting a Mustang GT. I've been driving 4 cylinders for a few years, and I miss my old v-8s.🙁

Yes. When we bought our Jetta a year and a half ago we bought it specifically for the gas milage. I knew gas was going to keep going up, and planned accordingly.
Yes, I wanted to get a Mustang instead. Or a WRX, or a used M3 or something else.
Sometimes though reality dictates otherwise.

But while I currently drive a Mazda3s, and I won't be getting a new car til 2008, since I want 4WD/AWD in my next vehicle, I'm considering everything from a Subaru Impreza to a Mazda CX-7.

A definite maybe. If I can talk my wife into us getting an FJ Cruiser then screw mileage. If not, then a high mileage econobox it is.

Welll ... my plans havn't changed much

I currently have a truck. We are moving. Depending on where we move, I'll be getting something that does 40+ mpg as a daily driver. Keeping the truck of course. So well be a 3 vehicle family.

Currently biking it everywhere. Have 20ish to spend. Rising prices are a little disturbing when looking at how much money will be spent, but then again, that's life. Be frugal or ya live only once 🙂

I am sticking with my motorcycle at 40 miles to the gallon roughly it is a much better alternative to a car...

I'll drive my mustang v6 as long as I feasably can, and then hopefully go to a Miata GT 6spd, which although it runs on preimium, will still have at least a 30% cheaper cost per mile.

This may take a while because I will be soon moving and changing jobs. My new job situation will allow me use of reigonal rails for commuting into center city which I will gladly take over driving. 🙂

No, they haven't changed my intentions; I've always planned to go for a hybrid, or at least a more efficient standard motor.

Miata's are cute little cars, I have been looking at buying a used one.
