Will the Diablo series continue??

Has anyone come across any info yet?

I sure haven't but I would like to know what is going on. People keep talking about Hellgate: London.....but I have not really seen anything that would suggest it being a 'spiritual' Diablo 3.

Story? Ehh. Diablo is about stats and stuff, at least for the really obsessed players (and I was one for a long time). Go out and do a bunch of repetitive stuff to find new items for new characters, who then go out and do a bunch of repetitive stuff... in clever new ways... and find more items for new characters who go out and do a bunch more repetitive stuff.

It's odd how a game that's so repetitive keeps people hooked, but it works. If D3 deviated too far from the established mechanics of the other Diablo games, it just wouldn't be Diablo.

I agree totally but especially with the part that I put in bold type.

There needs to be some grind, but some MMOs and RPGs these days are just ridiculous.

QFT, I'm looking forward to Hellgate, but I don't want to be stuck at my computer all day to get anywhere!

HGL is most definitely a spiritual successor to D3, the mechanics are so similar it is obvious that it is being developed by the same minds as diablo 1 and 2.

I think I might really have to take a deeper look into it then.

I'm so much of a Diablo fan that I play Oblivion almost exclusively in third person (top down).

If Diablo III is an mmo, I will, personaly, me, drive to Blizzard North, and shoot every single one of the devs.

That said, I'm really looking forward to Diablo III 😀

Before the SC2 announcement, everyone was complaining that all Blizzard was going to do from now on was make MMOs. I strongly doubt they will make a Diablo game unlike the previous two; if they do I'll be pissed.

I'll ride shotgun with a shotgun 😀

Pfff ... Diablo 3 ...

I really liked D2, and even the original Diablo, but I fear that if D3 is ever made it will turn into a pay-per-month MMORPG, which I won't even bother thinking about getting and will just avoid it. It would take a miracle to remain in the veins of D2's interface and its engine, and not create a fully 3-D game, but I just fear that's where D3 would go, just to please the masses and screw the nostalgics around. Maybe it'd turn out to be good in 3-D, but it wouldn't be good as a pay-per-month or "pay at all" game, believe me. But it could work ... considering that World of Warfcraft worked, if WoW worked, than anything can, seriously.

I agree. I want another hack and slash with a worthwhile storyline, awesome skill trees, and items worth grinding hours for... I'm done with raiding.

That's the kind of thing I like to hear. Ditto to that also.

They would really have to WORK the storyline though. How do you guys think they can bring the Prime Evils back?

After playing the demo, I honestly DO NOT believe that Hellgate: London is 'Diablo 3'.

What is Blizzard up to....really?

I'll come with my paintball gun for non-lethal beatdown.

Bill Roper said that Mythos is the closest you have to a Diablo spiritual successor right now.

I'm fed up with speculation!!

I want concrete evidence of a Diablo 3 and I DO NOT want it to be an MMORPG!!!

had it been diablo 3, they would have NAMED it diablo 3. The diablo series have an amazing community that they could realy profit from. But they are working on Starcraft 2 now, who knows when they make time for Diablo 3.

Except that Blizzard still owns the rights to Diablo...

But yes, I'd LOVE a Diablo III. Few games have wasted as much of my time. 🙂

As Blizzard does, they will make a sequel. I'd be happy if it was a MMO, even if I had to pay monthly.

For a game like D3, I'll gladly pay a monthly fee.

I did hear that Blizzard was hiring MMO developers, not sure if it's for WoW or possibly D3.

Do you think that D3 as an MMORPG would r0x0r or sux0r?

????????????

It would better because it would have constant upgrades without having to worry if they're gonna leave you behind for some other game.
