It's a really solid game, check it out.

I know of TQ & IT. I've played them and like them but there is just something about Blizzard, that other game makers can't seem to match or clone.

So I'm keen on a Diablo 3.

Interesting. My roommate and I started playing TQ and found it to be basically identical to Diablo in every way.

Too bad you don't like it much, I'll pray for a DIII for ya ;)

There will be a diablo 3. Blizzard had kind of given hint about diablo 3 already. They posted job specifically for diablo team. "The team behind diablo and diablo II is looking for....blah blah..."

Check it out if it brings you hope ;)

Okay. We all love this game.

I've been somewhat inactive on the forum for the last 2 months or so...because....yes...you guessed it...I've started playing Diablo 2: LOD again.

Anyway...here's the latest.....

Blizzard acquires Diablo3.com

Tell me what you guys think.

I'm not holding my breath for D3, their attention is pretty much focused on SC2 right now. And even if D3 is indeed under planning phase, or even is already into actual development I cross my fingers and pray to all divine entities that it does not become a pay-to-play MMORPG.

What's left to do in the story? You already killed the 3 demons and destroyed their soul gems. It's over; Diablo can't come back.

Blizzard has said, for years, that they plan to continue all their franchises for years to come, but they just need time to do it. WoW, SC2, Diablo is next up to bat, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Couple of years, minimum.

I'm still waiting for The Lost Vikings 3. Bastards.

Story writers are very creative at times. Be optimistic!!

I can think of one thing: Tyreal.

Taken from the Wiki entry for LoD: "Baal, the Lord of Destruction, is seeking the Worldstone, a massive crystal of great energies, built to prevent the High Heavens and Burning Hells from consuming the mortal realm completely into their respective folds. It is the source of all the Soulstones and their powers, so Baal wishes to obtain it, corrupt it and complete his brothers' plan to conquer the mortal realm and use it as a staging area to besiege the Heavens in the endless war between the two."

At the end Tyreal mentions that the Worldstone is already corrupted and that the defeat of Baal is insignificant in face of what could happen by destroying the Worldstone, but Tyreal risks it, and before doing so teleports the mortal hero (whatever race Blizzard thinks is the one responsible for Baal's defeat out of the seven available) to a "safe place" where the effects of the destruction, whatever they may be, shouldn't be too great.

In my opinion Tyreal gets corrupted.

My reasoning behind it is because when you kill Baal you can clearly see his spirit escaping his body and going inside the Worldstone before Tyreal destroys it in the final scene. Basically I think that Baal takes Tyreal's body/mind under control and makes Tyreal the new and much powerful Fallen Angel, in the same way that Izual got corrupted by Mephisto (I think, or was is Diablo... not sure). In a potential Diablo 3 there has to be something about the result of the Worldstone's destruction, further corruption of the mortal realm, the war (maybe) between the Burning Hells and the Heavens (maybe the Pandemonium Fortress will play a role there) and obviously Tyreal. If not then it shouldn't be called Diablo 3.

cheex you scare me. The sheer amount of your posts in this thread, many of which simply serve to bump the thread/show love for D2 exhibit a scary amount of fanboyism.

What's wrong with loving a really great game and wanting an even better sequel?

Also, I don't think there is any other game that after months at a time gets me to come back to it in such grand fashion as Diablo II: LoD.

Its not like with companies that make products, where you just stick to it regardless of the other company having a better product...that is fanboyism...not this.

I'm with you on this one. No matter how excited I get about other games they tend to lose their grip on me relatively quickly in the grand scheme of things. Meanwhile D2: LoD I played for probably a year and a half the first time, quit, picked it up for 2 or 3 months or so and only quit again because I moved and didn't have the internet for 7 months, and I hope to keep going again for quite a while.

Other games I've enjoyed alot, this is the only game I've ever been "addicted" to. And even with outdated graphics and a plot that I know like the back of my hand just going through the game still is a blast.

I honestly don't think Mythos will be as good as Diablo 2: LoD.

If it does prove me wrong though...I'll be happy to eat my words....:D

Diablo 3 is out and Cheex is nowhere to be found. It's like a bittersweet ending to a story where the good guys win but one of the main characters die.
