Whoever caused the whole subprime mess. If you think it's Obama, you probably also think that if someone gets hit by a car and racks up $400K in medical bills, the doctor is the one responsible.

No, you tell us what specific extra spending measures have padded this deficit. There was the stimulus which is running out. What else?

Given the GOP record of fucking up the economy, by 2014, it will mark the official end of the GOP if the American people are not in open rebellion before that.

I too tend to vote Libertarian, although honestly I have plenty of issues with their platforms too. But I don't think the Democrats will be hurt by Obama in any lasting fashion, not after he leaves office. There are far too many people who will vote Democrat no matter what, and the platform that promises to take money from others and give it to you will always have a certain built-in constituency. Libertarians may be better of freedom, but people only really care about freedom for themselves, not for people with whom they have little or nothing in common.

And if the Libertarian (and/or Green) really starts to gain traction, one or both main parties will change to subsume their key positions, or at least to claim to support them. Winning is much more important to them than are principles.

I'm asking you what has caused spending to increase during this time. Surely this should be easy for you to find out, right? I'm asking you to do this because you might find the answer illuminating. Little of the increase in spending has come from actions that Congress has taken from January 2009-present, with the exception of the stimulus.

I and many democrats are deeply dissapointed with President Obama who seems to have the backbone of a chocate eclair. But still as I and many moderate republicans look at the GOP field of Potus contenders, suddenly Obama looks infinitely preferrable.

The other thing is that the GOP tea baggers who now have a house majority on the premise their policies would improve government, and their gridlock has simply had the net effect of making the economy worse. As more national wealth concentrates in fewer and fewer hands as the wealthy make their money by outsourcing American jobs overseas.
