I think it's because any person with any amount of common sense, including Obama, fully realizes that the very rich have been getting unfair tax breaks and tax loopholes heaped upon them through their use of power and influence for nigh on decades whereas the middle class and the poor have been given nothing other than a razor wire wrapped stick up their butts and it's now time for the very rich to give back a little of what they've unfairly enjoyed for all that time. 🙂

Remember! When you cut taxes on the rich, it's job creation. When you raise taxes on the rich, it's class warfare.

Making the RICH seem as if they're foreign and the AVERAGE AMERICAN slaves away. Why does the government need to ensure that every household in america has three 60" TV's and an A/C????? poverty needs to be redefined as "food, shelter" done. nothing more. no luxuries. you should have to work for those.

Of course the Democrats will survive President Obama. As much as some Republicans are demonizing Obama as some sort of Stalin/Mao successor, I'm not sure such a ridiculous argument is convincing the majority of Americans. Certainly not enough to convince anyone to write off the entire Democratic party.

There is this odd tendency for people to see 2010 as some sort of historic moment ushering in a new political age, but I think they're sort of ignoring the context in favor of a good story. Lest we forget, the 2010 defeat for Democrats came after two election cycles of them absolutely demolishing the Republicans, when the smart money said the Republicans were the ones on the ropes. Politics doesn't really work like that though, especially since the average voter has a pretty short attention span and memory.

Let's say an evil genie grants the Republicans' wish and we start 2013 with President Perry or President Palin or whoever. Once the post-victory fever wears off, they'll have a pretty short window to actually do something besides be "not Obama". People LOVED Obama in 2008, and we all saw how fast everyone turned on him.

"Class warfare" has always sounded like a BS argument to me anyways, pretty blatantly meant to invoke the worst of communist revolutions around the world. And the vast majority of it seems to consist of conservatives saying things they claim liberals are saying which they usually aren't.

I'm almost in the camp that we should not only cut spending but raise taxes on EVERYONE. We all borrowed it as a country, we PAY it as a country.

The rich are paying the lowest percentage of their income to taxes in a century. It has not led to greater prosperity, but it has led to greater deficits. Increasing their taxes is the rational solution.

Well then please let me know what bills were passed by Congress that were responsible for the huge increase in the deficit. (of course it would require both of them, but that's not really the point I'm trying to get at.)

Just because spending is not constrained by revenues doesn't mean that having a large disparity between them is a good thing.
