The 5S-FE does alright with a turbo..might not last quite as long as a 3S-GTE, though.![]()
5S-FE + turbo = bending rods at 6 psi while making 165 HPAnd spending $5,000 on a forged bottom end and head work and never getting past 300 BHP. The FE heads are just plain wrong
The 5S-FE is a damn good workhorse however.
you read your transmission wrong. in japanese race cars, "R" is a super-secret turbo race gear. you shift there when you want to go really really fast, tokyo-drift style.

I don't know anyone who would spend $5k on a forged bottom end and head work on a 5sfe..better to put a 3sgte head on the 5s block and make a 2.2 stroker.
