Please name some 5 (five) year old cards that play better than 4x8 with the very latest games.
(i am really curious . . . . i can't think of any . . . the Radeon 8500/GeF4 series are about 3-1/2 years old)
edit: letsee, that would be older than the GF3 series . . . . like a Radeon DDR64 . . . DX
7 cards. . . . don't think so.
i guess the best example of an older card (with much older tech

)
is the gf4 mx, no
i have no idea how old the gf2 is now, but that tech runs like a champ smoothness and res-wise for hl2/CS:S while still looking pretty great
I guess i'm just confused why more developers don't take this line and make their titles scale like this, with amazing eyecandy and advantage of (most) new features for the high end, but scaling back to looking great still and running very fast on older feature sets with vastly less grunt behind them...
Hl2 is a different world on a x850xt/6800U than on a gf4mx

but the difference is nowhere near as striking as the same comparison in most other recent titles(d3, farcry, PoP), which either run too slowly/look like a$$ if they do run, or don't even run at all
