Will overclocked 2600 have same single thread performance as 2600x?

Would overclocking a Ryzen 2600 paired with a decent budget cooler like the Hyper 212 Evo give me the same single thread performance as a non-overclocked 2600x?

You can get the multi-core clockspeed up to the same level. But, it will lack the smart boost stuff. On my 2600X, on lightly threaded things it will boost a single core to 4.3 to 4.4. Or an all core boost of 4.2 on all cores. You can likely get a 2600 to 4.2 all cores though. So I guess it comes down to what it's worth to you to get that .1 or .2 Ghz boost in single core things. Another advantage of the 2600X is you just install it and turn it on. No fiddling around trying to overclock.

The 2600 and 2600X have the all the same features as far as I know. The only difference between them is clock speeds.

Yeah, in the 2xxx series the X chips pretty much overclock to the top end at stock already (especially with Precision Boost Overdrive enabled which disables the TDP limit otherwise enforced), while the non-X chips are binned for efficiency at stock which makes them worse at overclocked clocks.
