The answer to that is almost certainly no. As has been discussed in other threads, the average republican has more to fear from a primary challenge than a general election loss, and the republican base views compromises as a betrayal. There is simply no political advantage for republicans to work with Obama.

Get ready for a lot of vetoes! it will also be interesting to watch the republicans in the house and senate fight each other.

Americans from all sides of the political spectrum were asked why they voted the way they did and they almost all said overwhelmingly they are tired of the bullshit in DC.

So I'm thinking that if it's just the same shit for another 2 years, there will be a tidal wave crashing down on all incumbents in 2016. People are tired of the gridlock.

This is the republicans time to shine and show they aren't just the party of no Obama. Pass some meaningful legislation and don't attached an ACA repeal to every bill or they will be seen as worse than people see Obama in 2 years.

I'm also thinking unless the R's create a new Jesus and run him in 2016 that you can rest assured you will have another Clinton in the white house then, too. Unless Bill dies and cannot stump for Hillary.

McConnell sounds like he wants to crush the wingnuts and get things done. He understands the crazies will lead him to ruin.

I didn't hear anything from the Tea Party this election. They seem to be effectively sidelined. If anything, the stronger majorities gives them some space to go around Cruz and the like and get some legislation that won't be completely offensive to the middle.

As usual, its up to the Dems to be magnanimous, and I think Obama has every motivation to do so. He's been in the doldrums for the last several years and he needs to show something for his reelection.

Not to mention there are serious challenges we are facing. Our economy is quite strong compared to the rest of the world, but the continued weakness in the EU is worrying, as is China slowing down.

ISIS needs to be conffronted effectively, and I think this election means we will get an expanded military presence there. Perhaps we could even get a unified front to face Putin if Ukraine flares up again (likely)

Immigration, corp taxes, infrastructure, farm bill, all these things need doing.
