Not unless Valerie Jarrett says he should which is highly unlikely. The next two years will be spent polishing his legacy on the spinning wheel.

This is an easy one. The Dems will use the next two years to say to the public "Your President can't help you because of those mean-spirited Republicans."

He took an oath to uphold the Constitution. The Republican position that slavery was a good thing and should be reenacted is something he probably won't side with on both Constitutional and personal grounds.

I think he should compromise on issues that can be negotiated. Negotiating bills that do not serve the best interest of most Americans is not something he should be doing.

Will the republicans now attempt to work with Obama instead of the all out obstruction they've been pulling for the last 6 years?

The answer to that is almost certainly no. As has been discussed in other threads, the average republican has more to fear from a primary challenge than a general election loss, and the republican base views compromises as a betrayal. There is simply no political advantage for republicans to work with Obama.

Get ready for a lot of vetoes! it will also be interesting to watch the republicans in the house and senate fight each other.

Obama has broken that oath so many times it's not even funny.

What planet are you from?

You do know it was Republicans that voted to abolish slavery AND The Civil Rights act? o_O

Democrats opposed both, strongly.

Get ready for a lot of veto overrides and possible impeachment!

In the end,it's checks and balances working the way they should.

Better question: Will republicans now work with Obama?

I'll also ask the same question posed to Felix: What has changed in DC from 2 days ago?

Will it be business as usual or the same boondoggle repeated for another 2 years?

Americans from all sides of the political spectrum were asked why they voted the way they did and they almost all said overwhelmingly they are tired of the bullshit in DC.

So I'm thinking that if it's just the same shit for another 2 years, there will be a tidal wave crashing down on all incumbents in 2016. People are tired of the gridlock.

This is the republicans time to shine and show they aren't just the party of no Obama. Pass some meaningful legislation and don't attached an ACA repeal to every bill or they will be seen as worse than people see Obama in 2 years.

I'm also thinking unless the R's create a new Jesus and run him in 2016 that you can rest assured you will have another Clinton in the white house then, too. Unless Bill dies and cannot stump for Hillary.

Your arguments have nothing to do with the facts......
The last 6 years the Republicans have been the obstructionists....and will continue to be.....

If they are now in charge, how can they be obstructionists? Oh, that's right, because your King won't get his way.

Spoken from the wingnut fringe of the party. IF this advice is followed, the R control of Congress will be a short one.

McConnell sounds like he wants to crush the wingnuts and get things done. He understands the crazies will lead him to ruin.

I didn't hear anything from the Tea Party this election. They seem to be effectively sidelined. If anything, the stronger majorities gives them some space to go around Cruz and the like and get some legislation that won't be completely offensive to the middle.

As usual, its up to the Dems to be magnanimous, and I think Obama has every motivation to do so. He's been in the doldrums for the last several years and he needs to show something for his reelection.

Not to mention there are serious challenges we are facing. Our economy is quite strong compared to the rest of the world, but the continued weakness in the EU is worrying, as is China slowing down.

ISIS needs to be conffronted effectively, and I think this election means we will get an expanded military presence there. Perhaps we could even get a unified front to face Putin if Ukraine flares up again (likely)

Immigration, corp taxes, infrastructure, farm bill, all these things need doing.

What a sad twisted view of history you have.

You do realize it was the republicans who voted to abolish slavery, right?

Will Obama now work with republicans?

obama has not worked with anyone since he was elected. Why start now?

Why did republicans sweep both houses? Because obama lied. He failed to keep his promises.

The nation is in store for 2 years of absolute gridlock.

The dear leader, work with anyone? How dare you suggest he stoop so low as to have to work with anyone, everyone should just follow his wise commandments. ;)

The bummer never wanted to work with the gop, he just wanted to push his horrible agenda by any means necessary. This election just makes it a little easier for the GOP to prevent him from doing so, in effect to limit the damage obummer can do to the country over the next two years.

I am in absolute bliss. Its like christmas and thanksgiving all rolled into one day.

Democrats can cry all the want, but the truth is obama handed this election to the republicans. obama has failed on so many points democrats will be lucky if the keep new york and california in the 2016 elections.

You can still hope for change, but it should have been clear at the 2012 elections obama was not going to do anything.

The only hope we have is both parties of congress work together on some kind of plan for after obama leaves office.

Maybe you could answer a question for me. Why do progz like yourself feel that a good "argument" against those that don't share their views should be based around inferences to gay sexual behavior? You defend homosexuals yet slur those you disagree with as being gay. That's the kind of behavior that keeps shrink's in business. How do you really feel about black folks and women? You can tell us.

Hey look, EverWrong just proclaimed it, so it must be true. Can we get DMC in here to second the motion and complete the circle?
