Whats your point? The first google datacenters were using Transmeta blades.

nope. AMD isn't just standing still lol. Plus their 90nm are still cooler than Intel's 65nm...

Are you saying an X2 running at a 90W TDP is better than a comparable Yonah running at about a 30W TDP?

no, but is yonah running on the desktop? Thats a pure apples to oranges comparison.

Some Viiv desktops will use yonah

when is this going to happen? Prolly around the same time that AMD's 65nm process comes out.

and the X2 was released how many months ago? Where's Conroe?

Of course it should be better than the X2s, it's coming out much later.

Can I buy a conroe right now? Nope. The only procs I can actually buy for a desktop that have that Intel name on it are either Smithfields (thermonuclear furnace) or a Pressler (not quite as hot as a Smitfield, but still toasty)

We can talk about the future and how such good products are going to come out, but then again Netburst was supposed to take us to 10GHz by now...

BTW both AMD and Intel uses their own respective standards to define and measure their TDP values.

Why hasn't this thread been closed? Yes, one die shrink is all it takes to kill poor little AMD. :p

I also like my mini-BBQ hotplate - Prescott 3.0GHz!

Intel got cocky and greedy and AMD was able to pwn them. But I feel that only awakened the sleeping giant and gave them motivation to build the nuclear bomb.

My god do you read what you write? It's full of cliches and they don't even work. Pwn them, "awaken the sleeping giant" (WWII, Japan), and motivation to build the nuclear bomb? Is this a question about processors or WWII history recap day?

Writing is not so good from where my country is residing. You have to prease excuse my poor glammar and engrish the history is very familiar but is a point was I trying to make analogy. Prease excuse again for once.

No more so than the transition to .18 micron, .13 micron, 90nm, and then 65 nm has.

Yes...IBM is the big ace in the hole.

Don't forget,
Samsung, Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing and Infineon are all IBM partners for 45 nm.

It seems that AMD has only gotten stronger in the last 2 years where it was predicted they would leave the CPU market by several analyst that would like to remain nameless. Intel for it's part has stumbled and run into walls that it did not predict like netburst not reaching 5ghz or even 4ghz for that matter. Intel had to scrambled and get the Pentium M out and Core Solo and Core Duo after just to keep up. Desktop will have the same approach as well, it will interesting to see how Intel markets the newer chips though now that netburst is being phased out.

I guess what I'm asking is since Intel has woken up and decided to put some money into trying to beat AMD, if AMD has the resources to catch up. Sort of like Cold War where Russia didn't have enough money to keep up with US and lost.

I would be willing to bet that intel would dump serious money into AMD just to keep them afloat.

Don't you think they liked it when every personal computer except Mac had Intel processors?
