Actually, all "true atheists" would say that there is absolutely no possibility of a god. You are confusing "atheist" with "agnostic". An agnostic would say that we cannot know for sure. Depending on an agnostic's leaning, he or she may say that a god is less or more likely (usually referred to as "strong" or "weak" agnostics respectively), but an "atheist", by definition, makes a positive assertion that there is no god.

Uh oh, not this again. Look, atheists do not assert that there is "no possibility of a god." They recognize holding an absolutist position wrt to something unprovable is as foolish as asserting without any evience that god absolutely does exist. Put simply, atheists do not believe in a god, but they do not assert 100% impossibility of such a god. Richard Dawkins, the world's foremost athiest holds that he's 99.9% sure there's no god. That doesn't make him agnostic.

Conversely, a theist is someone who believes in god, but I wouldn't require that person to assert with 100% scientific certainty that there is a god else they be a non-believer.

"Do you believe in god?" "Yes" = you're a theist
"Do you believe in god?" "no" = you're an atheist

Neither one has to meet some standard of proof.

You display an amazing ignorance of atheism. I've said this many times before, but it doesn't seem to sink in.
I'm don't believe that there is no god, I merely don't believe that there is a god.

Edit - I don't think that agnostic is the appropriate title for my position because I'm also agnostic with respect to fairies, astrology and the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I can't disprove any of these things because it is logically impossible to prove a negative.

This wouldn't even be an issue at all if Christians would quit looking to Google for answers. All the answers they will ever need are right there on the nightstand with the words of Christ in red.

The ACLU will probably have a command center of lawyers hitting F5 all day to make sure Christmas is not mentioned

ACLU sucks dongs.

While that is possible, why would "sucking dongs" lead them to pay lawyers to monitor the Google website?

Will GOOGLE cower and serve political correctness for Christmas?

Honestly, why do you care so much? Why do you let the minor decisions of how a billion dollar corporation chooses to greet it's customers during the Christmas season ruin your day, hour, or even 3 minutes that it took to stir up the discontent to post this thread. Enjoy your faith, enjoy your family, enjoy your friends, enjoy your food, and enjoy your toys. Life is way too short to sweat the small stuff.

It's Google's page and they can do whatever the fsck they want.

How is it cowardly to display what YOU want on YOUR page?

Giving in to the demands of the Christian extremists would be cowardly. Google should put a big sign on the site 'God probably doesn't exist', but I think they don't dare doing that ;)

Why should they do that?

Saying god doesn't exist makes you just as faith oriented and extremist as the theists. You can no more prove your claims than they can.

First of all no TRUE atheisist says that there is absolutely no possiblility of god, it's just that the evidence points towards extremely unlikely. Second of all the the poster above you said "probably doesn't exits", with emphasis on the probably.

Well, that's not quite accurate. A gnostic Atheist might say that he possesses full knowledge of God's non-existence. However, most (rational) Atheists are nominally Agnostic also, which just means that we will be convinced by evidence for God's existence, if and when it show's up, but until then we'll act as if he doesn't, just as anyone should act toward any unsupported, extraordinary claim. And, the hallmark of rationality is to let your beliefs be modified by the evidence, and not the other way around. As for the Abrahamic God, he is so blatantly man-made (and MALE-made) that it requires nothing but a tenuous grasp of High School history to declare him a crock of shit.

That's why I put the "true" part in there, I don't consider a gnostic atheist a true one. In fact, I see them as just as bad, if not worse, than crazy religous people.

I was just clarifying, because referring to "true" Atheists vs. "false" Atheists runs the risk of falling into the "No True Scotsman" fallacy.

Or making out? That would be hot.

What's funny is that the ACLU would defend an individual's right to say 'Merry Christmas' if it were ever infringed. But don't let reality interfere with the blind hate.
