It's Google's page and they can do whatever the fsck they want.

How is it cowardly to display what YOU want on YOUR page?

Giving in to the demands of the Christian extremists would be cowardly. Google should put a big sign on the site 'God probably doesn't exist', but I think they don't dare doing that ;)

Why should they do that?

Saying god doesn't exist makes you just as faith oriented and extremist as the theists. You can no more prove your claims than they can.

Saying Zeus doesn't exist (I presume you do) makes you just as faith oriented and extremist as the theists. You can no more prove your claims than they can.

Fail at epistemology. Look up: "reasonable doubt", "standards of proof", "absolute claims", "theory of knowledge in casual conversation"

Nevermind, that's too much to ask.

Happy Holidays! (Oooooooh I'll bet that grinds your gears!)

Welll

MERRY CHRISTMAS to you then.

how can you exactly restate the post you are quoting, then twist it to make it seem like you are some sort of genius?

You FAIL history.

This:thumbsup:

Wow...what a bunch of asses. Do you feel better now showing your superiority?

The holiday of Christmas was invented by the Catholic Church to compete with Pagan/Roman winter feastivals that were drawing people away from the chruch.

Even from Wikipedia:

Christmas (IPA: /kr?sm?s/), also referred to as Christmas Day or Christmastide, is an annual Christian holiday celebrated on December 25 that marks and honors the birth of Jesus of Nazareth.[2][3] The birth of Jesus, which is the basis for the anno Domini system of dating, is thought to have occurred between 7 and 2 BC.[4] December 25 is not thought to be Jesus' actual date of birth, and the date may have been chosen to correspond with either a Roman festival,[5] or with the winter solstice.[6]

Why would they not put a Christmas image on Christmas Day? The whole PC thing is to avoid making the entire holiday season about Christmas... not about denying the existance of Christmas

Nobody is ever offended by it - at least not in my experience. The whole thing is made up by right wing tabloids to give them an excuse to complain and stir up shit while everyone else is trying to enjoy themselves.

Jesus is not the reason for the season. People have celebrated winter festivals roughly around the winter solstice for centuries before the magicman was born and died. Jesus was not born on Dec 25, and no one knows exactly when or if he was born. Christians coopted a time when everyone was celebrating anyway and called it their own. Of course if you didn't know that you could just google it.

That said I have 3 xmas parties to attend and neither santa or jesus will be present at either.

Alright we all know that Jesus is the reason for the season but for atheists we have given you Santa Claus. I've been watching Google's holiday pics on the front page change daily and so far I have yet to see a hint of any overt reference to Christmas or Santa. If you look closely at todays picture you might note the shape of something that hints of a candycain, the bright Red & White colors of the season and a happy boy looking at items that might or might not be "gifts". I don't think anything about these pictures are an accident. I'll bet Google had an entire think-tank working on these photos so that they might feel Christmassy to the West yet otherwise be such a non-statement to people of "other" religions that they probably wouldn't even take note of them much less understand that they relate to Christmas.

So what do you think...is Google going to chicken out and omit Jesus & Santa on it's homepage Christmas day?

Ever consider that just maybe Google is not a Christian organization?
Not everything in this world revolves around your cult.

Troll much?

Pretty much. Saying "happy holidays" to be inclusive to other faiths (even the faiths that aren't generally disliked by the people who complain about "happy holidays," like Judaism) does not imply that it would be offensive to say something else. It's not at all about political correctness, it's about being inclusive for practical reasons.

I have 5 Christmas parties (3 different days) and a funeral. Beat that. :p

You know the funeral you're going to? That was my fault.

Did I win?

I don't give a shit either way. What I do find amusing is that two years ago we had to take a Christmas tree out of the break room at work. This year, they put up a menorah that was allowed to stay.

These Christian extremists you speak of, do they turn the other cheek? Did they sell all their belongings and are walking the footsteps of Jesus?
