Will Gigabyte repair my board or not?

I sent my MB in for repairs, as its only 6 months old. I was surprised to find they try and 'fix' MBs, rather than just send you a new one, as OCZ did with my PSU.
What percent of boards actualy get fixed? I read some posts on here of how they took weeks, only to find they had changed the BIOS or some foolishness.
I don't mind buying a new board, as my time is more valuable than that. I just didn't want to have to wipe and reinstall everything, which I will have to do with a new MB (my model isn't sold here anymore).
I would much prefer it if they said that they don't really care about repairs, then I would know to just go ahead and buy a new MB.
Any ideas?

sent mine in recently, got it back IN ONE MONTH (bad to me) and nothing was changed at all. I called before to ask and they said they updated bios. i was already pissed since i could have done that myself.

i got it back and nothing was changed, the bios wasn't even updated. it was from 2/08.

I've recieved a different board from a Gigabyte RMA. Chances are if they have a refurb in stock they will ship it out to you, but barring that they would try to fix it. The quickest turn around from gigabyte I've ever seen was 3 weeks.

Hey louisssssss,

Yours went bad also, lol. I sent mine in and all they did was update the BIOS and sent it back. The board still fries RAM. I even called and wrote specific instructions on what to check for. GIGABYTE has an horrible RMA process. But I bought a new P45-UD3R board anyway. Those P35c boards were just crap to begin with.

so I should buy a new board. Are there any MB manufacturers that honor a warranty guaranteed, such as OCZ did with my PSU? I don't mind paying for quality.

I RMAed a P35C-DS3R to Gigabyte. The board gets stuck in endless boot loops sometimes. They did nothing beyond flash the BIOS and return with no fault found. The board still does this from time to time and I have to power on/off or mash the reset button to get it back.

While it was gone I bought an EP45-UD3P and just use that now. Great board, put the p35c in another rig and it holds up okay apart from the endless loops.

Funny thing with Gigabyte, they make amazing MBs and I still buy them, planning on a ud5 for my i7 build. But you have to accept that their service is total crap. I still may go with an evga x58 mobo for my i7, just because if there are issues with the UD5, I pretty much will wind up having to buy a whole new board as Gigabyte is useless when it comes to service :/
