The explanation I heard and one that I always believed is that Garland was never going to indict Trump but Trump declaring he intended to run way way before the usual announcement date before an election forced Garland's hand. I think, in other words, and I heard this echoed on the news, that had he not gotten into the race Garland would have done nothing to indict him. I think Garland was and is a fool and a terrible choice for AG. It is also why it took forever to indict Trump. Garland, In my opinion, is almost as big a catastrophe for our democracy as Trump.

Most of my family is like that, though I don't think they've descended to Q levels. I don't actually know, because I no longer engage them on any level other than friendly family stuff, kids and pets etc. They know my views and I know theirs, and both of use realize there's no damn point to "discussion". There really isn't--not if you don't share the same factual reality. If we could agree on factual reality and then disagree on what those facts mean, then sure, let's have a debate.

I'm in Conservative central and every one that I've talked with or heard speak about politics in many years believes conspiracy garbage to some degree. Every single one. I just don't get close to the crazy anymore, it might rub off.

I know my family really hates Biden. Plus they are all Q's and Trumpies, a fine mix of insanity.
My family will go off on Biden for every little thing, and I want to say BUT TRUMP DID WORSE, TRUMP DID MUCH WORSE. But they never respond to THAT. They make fun of Biden when Biden has his senior moments, but Trump is much worse just the way he is and... 24/7. Biden is old, Trump is insane. There is a difference.

And I don't get it. Lately my sister has been bitching about her granddaughter having to pay so much for day-care. I reminded old sis that Biden was going to take care of that, help with that, but my sister doesn't listen. It's like she just wants to gripe about things that "SHE" could help fix if she would just get over this HATE BIDEN crap and vote her best interest.
WHY would any middle class vote for a deranged con-artist millionaire who will never do anything for the middle class when Joe Biden is right there ready and willing to help??? Makes no sense.
The answer is so obvious that nobody will see it. Your sister can't do anything to help herself because she feels worthless and therefore undeserving of it. What you have to watch our for is hating yourself because you can't help her. You did not cause her problems and it isn't your job to cure them. You come first. If any can cure themselves they will only then know what to do about others. My opinion.

We are all the same. The truth they deny we all deny. There is only one enemy and it is self hate. Nobody will face that fact so how will the truth be known. We all are profoundly blind. What you see are those more blind than yourself. Again, my opinion.

Well the other thing that forced Garland hand was Trump's refusal to turn over top secret documents that he was more than willing to share with folks without a clearance. I mean really a full yea they tried Trump gave them the run-around and then went to 'extremes' to keep DOJ from finding the documents - really moving them out of the storage room the day before and then returning them afterwards.... talk about begging for indictment.

I have a friend who sister is similar to that - only it wasn't child care; this is back when trump was first elected and i asked him why she supported trump; the answer was that trump blames everyone but himself for his failures (i.e, immigrants, muslims, ...) and she likewise would rather blame someone else than herself for her failure to get a decent job. If only there were no immigrants i would have a decent job....
--
The not so funny thing is that when republicans attack immigrants - not only do people not take the jobs vacated by immigrants (like construction); they then complain that those things now cost more money and the builders complain they can't find enough labor.... so they suffer due to their bigotry behavior to explain their own failures.

I wonder if he made copies of the documents while they were removed, and the ones laid out on the floor were copies of what was not returned. If the FBI got a copy of the printer's job history showing he made copies of documents he was supposed to turn over, then that's a new level of screwed.

THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!!! NO CURRENTLY SITTING FORMER PRESIDENT HAS EVERY BEEN SUBJECTED TO SUCH MEAN TREATMENT FOR TRYING TO OVERTRUN AN ILLEGAL ELECTION STOLEN BY THE DEEP STATE WITH THE HELP OF HILLARY CLINTON AND THAT MARXIST BARAK HUESAIN OBAMA! IT'S SO UNFAIR A GOOD HARDWORKING GRIFTER ISN'T EVEN ALLOWED TO GRIFT WITHOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF CONSEQUECES. WHAT ARE THE DEMOCRATS DOING TO DESTROY OUR GLOURIOUS COUNTRY? Yes it does. But it doesn't matter. He's violated countless laws and orders. Yet he still walks freely.
I won't deny I wish the wheels of justice would turn a lot more swiftly, but they are turning and given the shear weight of evidence and the breadth of the charges against him it's going to be very difficult for Trump to lie his way out of all of it.

Just hang him for treason if he made copies. I mean really. What a nut job.

Sadly more than 40% of Americans still believe that shithead. No wonder people are so easily scammed out of their 'hard' earned money.

Witness tampering or intimidation?

Straight to jail. Right away.
WaPo has a full story on this.
Georgia law makes it a crime “knowingly to use intimidation” with intent to “influence, delay, or prevent the testimony of any person” or “cause or induce” someone to “withhold testimony.”

The matter appears to turn on whether Trump intended to use intimidation, just as it does in the Chutkan example.
