I remember thinking the show was pretty dumb too (I was a sophomore in high school).
But just reading Will Ferrel and Manimal in the same sentence makes me laugh. I'm in.

look, I know Abbot & Costello died about 5 decades ago, but you could at least stretch your culture a wee bit and try to appreciate at least a small bit of culture from 2 decades ago....

Sadly, that doesn't help...many of the recent "comedians just aren't at all funny...unless you're some brain-dead millennial who hasn't been exposed to actual funny people, just stupid cartoons and anime. 😛

I could see the pitch to the movie studio.

Pitch man: "We take the worst actor of the last 20 years and pair them with one of the worst TV shows of the 1980s."
Studio Executive: "You are going to remake The land of the Lost?"
Pitch man: "We already done that and the movie sucked balls, but we are going to take the same actor, Will Farrell and turn him into Manamial"
Studio Executive: "what a great idea!"
