Wii vs. Gimped Xbox

I'm a little dissapointed that the Nintendo Wii is debuting at $250. I thought Nintendo was promising a budget box? 😕

Of course, everyone wants to get the $400 Xbox if possible, but I was thinking about the Nintendo Wii vs. the $300 Xbox, and I think I might rather have the Xbox.

The way I see it, with the 360 you gotta go Premium (or a similar bundle) or nothing at all. The handicapped 360 "core" is a ripoff. So that said, I choose the Wii. Maybe you should slap a poll on here.

$250 *IS* budget when your competitors start at $300 for a gimped system 🙂

Yep. The $249 Wii has WiFi and wireless controllers. The $299 XBOX 360 does not.

The Wii does come with the "starter" game - you get jackall with the $300 Core system.

But only some sort of moron would buy a Core. Premium or bust.

Agreed with the two above posters. I love my 360, but the $300 system is a waste of money. Hell, if you want to save games, you have to spend an extra $40 for a memory card, so you might as well spend the extra $60 and get wireless, a headset, 20GB hard drive, component cables, etc.

If I only had $300 to spend on a console, I'd probably get a Wii also with Zelda instead of the "gimped" 360.

Yeah the Core system is useless...so really it's a $400 Xbox Premium vs. a $500 or $600 PS3 vs. a $250 Wii. Wii is definitely the budget box of the group.

no way!
i would never buy the cheaper xbox or get one of the lesser ipods and so on... it'll just make you wish you had the real deal...

if i didn't want to spend R$400 on the 'real' xbox i'd just get a wii 🙂
no point in buying the budget version, loving it and then wishing you had the full-fledged one...

Can you play Gears of War with the budget box? ... YES. Just get the Xbox 360 and if you decide it is as awesome as it is...then you can always buy add ons later on to get on Xbox Live and whatnot...where the system REALLY shines.

Do you want to play Gears of War from the beginning every time you turn on your 360? NOOO

If this turns out to be true (yeah right), I'll buy both! 😀

BAHAHAHHAHAAHAHHAAHAH

It's true! I know what I'm doing at 1pm on Thanksgiving!!!!!

At $100 for the core, I can pick up the HDD ($100), 2 wireless controllers (~$100) and a 2 games (~$120) for about $450.

Sounds like a deal to me.

I thought this thread was going to be about the Wii vs. XBMC (aka Gimped Xbox). Oh well 😛

But then we're not talking about a $300 xbox, we're talking about a $330 xbox. 🙂 If you never plan on using Live, then I agree the core is probably the better option, otherwise it's ridiculous.

Is this Xbox thing for next Thursday? And it's at 1 P.M., right?
You gotta vote for it, but I'm fairly certain it will beat out the other stuff. If it wins, it will be available at 2pm EST on Thanksgiving. They'll announce the winner the day before.
