According to one gamestop I talked to, there is a meeting on the 30th with all of the managers where they will likely find out how many units they get, and preordering will probably start the first week of october. This was just a prediction on his part, so it's not a fact yet. There is also a rumor that Gamestop/EB will allow preordering for a week, and you must trade in $50 worth of games for it. If that's the truth, I'm camping out at Target.

Best bet is to keep an eye online. EBGames/Gamestop seems to have given up on preordering after the problems they had with the 360. The EBGames guy I talked with said that they weren't taking preorders on the PS3 at all and hadn't decided on the Wii yet.

Grrr...I was going to go to the Nintendo World Store today to put in my preorder because Engadget said they started today, but they actually started Monday and all the slots are taken. :|

Queen saw it coming.

:D It would be so awesome if Nintendo used that song in their advertising.

OP, Amazon has had them available for pre-order off and on. I ordered one but I don't have a lot of hope that I'll get it.

Lik Sang has had them available for pre-order (reservation really) since before the price was announced. I REALLY wouldn't count on getting one from them.

I went to GameStop and they said they wouldn't allow pre-orders until they had a definite number of units per store that they'd be receiving. They don't want a repeat of the Xbox 360 fiasco.

I hope it's not true that they'll require $50 worth of used games traded in, I'm not sure I could even come up with that many games I'm willing to part with. I'd rather be required to buy a few accessories (extra Wii-mote and nunchuk) and games (Zelda, maybe Excite Truck?)

Apparently, that is a test-pilot that EBGames/Gamestop is trying out in Hawaii for the PS3. They're catching alot of heat for it already.

not to threadjack but since it was brought up, I talked a guy at EB games at the mall last weekend and said that most stores would only get 2 - 4 PS3 units if that and that they probably won't be taking pre-orders...

Went to best buy, no preorders for the wii.

Looks like I'm camping.

Although for what its worth, it looks like they will have a ton of systems ready for launch.

Best Buy doesn't take preorders at all.

The good thing about camping out for the Wii is that it comes out on a weekend.

I haven't known them or Wal-Mart to take preorders on game systems either.

None of the EB Games in the Toronto area are taking preorders. I need to check out Toys R Us to see if they are taking any or not.

Interesting... I could swear Amazon was taking pre-orders for a few days, but now it's just back to "email me when this is available."

FYE did but they've already used up all their slots. Toys R Us did during the summer but has probably used up all their slots. Don't know of any other Brick&Mortar retailer who is taking preorders.
