wii preordering

Game stores. EBGames, GameStop... those are the only two we have around here, but there are probably other smaller chains.

Edit: I don't mean that they're taking them now.
 
i just talked to a local game shop that's taking preorders if you buy 2 games. might be a good idea to try the non-chain stores.


edit: they let meget a controller, nunchuck, and zelda. all the stuff i was going to buy anyway.
 
Link - I wouldn't bother with pre-ordering the Wii. It is sounding like you'll be able to just walk into a store and buy one on launch day.

Briefing.com reports (subscription only) that, according to UBS, 2 million Wii consoles were completed in Q3 (July-September) to support Nintendo's upcoming Q406 global console launch, beginning November 19th in North America. In addition, "at least 7 mln and potentially as high as 9 mln more units are in the build plan for 4Q06." The report continues, "this production ramp handily exeeds [sic] a publicly announced tgt for 6 mln units to ship by yearend"; however, Nintendo had previously announced plans to ship 6 million units by the end of their fiscal year (ending March 31, 2007) and only 4 million by the end of the calendar year. The language appears to indicate the possibility of building, if not shipping, as many as 11 million Wii consoles by the end of the calendar year!

With production exceeding expectations, why release the console so much later than many anticipated, and right on top of the PlayStation 3's November 17th launch? It all comes down to software. While Nintendo may have warehouses full of Wiis, they need a launch lineup and reliable system software to go along with all that stockpiled hardware. But Zelda has to be done ... we would have been happy with just that, promise.

I don't know about launch day, but certainly in a few weeks. I'm pretty sure they will still be sold out by campers even without pre-orders.

Every unit that ships to stores will sell on launch day. 80% of them will be returned the next day when people realize there is no money to be made on eBay. Most of them will then be bought by the people who actually want the system. 😉

LMAO - that sounds about right. With 1 million or more consoles in N. America at launch, it sounds like the eBay profiteering on Wiis is going to be approximately nil.
 
I put down 5 bucks at EBgames for the new zelda on the wii. The guy said that people who pre-order 1 game for it will get first dibs on the pre-order for the system. So I guess I pre-ordered my pre-order.
