I got a USB wifi adapter for my PC, a tp-link TL-WN823N. I put it on a 2 meter extension cable to keep it away from the case where I suspect the internal one was getting interference. So far it's working fine. I'll have to use it for several days to see that it doesn't drop out the way the internal adapter has.
