I pu ttogether a new system for her...Non-ocing ofcourse but the shuttle board I have does ave some overclocking options. Unfortunately not any voltage adjustments...

That aside...

1) The board has tons of options
2)The board undervolts slightly to 1.58v
3) using stock hsf\
4) 300 WATT POWER SUPPLY

I am running 2.0ghz right now 100% stable (prime95/3dmark tested)

CPU booted at 166fsb for 2.16ghz I believe. Wont pass prime and I get some errors. Likely needs some more power...300 watts rails are tight with little or no fluctuation under load. Temps at 2ghz hit 57c at load (after 1 hour of prime and 3dmark looped) and idle at 38c. Obviously a better hsf could do more.

I didn't read the numbers on the chip but I have the retail box...s there a number on there to look for???

I think since it booted into windows at less then default vcore at 166fsb and I have decent pc2700 ddr I think this chip could hit definitely 2.2-2.3ghz range. Pretty good for $61 dollar chip. Contemplating when I build my father in laws cpu I will get him a more oc friendly mobo (nforce2) like epox and see what this chip could do....

They can do a lot, assuming you get a Throughbred-B. At least 2.2GHz isn't uncommon (200x11), somtimes more.

Yep...That is the one....Overall the board gets about what I would expect high 3000's in 3dmark2k1...for a GF4mx that is about right (420 range)...Haven't reran it for score since I jacked the speed up and tweaked the memory...Wife isn't a gamer so that doesn't mean jack to her...

How does the quality of the video output look? I know the onboard video on my old A7N266-VM isn't the greatest (at high resolution, anyway).

ON the high quality 15"lcd screen I bought her the screen at 1024x768 looks great. The actual 3dmark2001 looked very damn good with I bet quite playable fps even in the high res. Overall the look of DVDs and mpeg2 videos looks as good as any GF4mx cards I have had, and for uses the 81.00 dollars for a mobo with onboard sound, best onboard video in the market, onboard lan, and then top it off with a mobo with quite a few options and dual channel capability and this is one good buy...

Currently have 2 more of these exact system to build for other relatives....

Great little boards, I picked up a couple when they first introduced them from Directron for 60$ shipped each :D Wish I had bought 20 now! the dual VGA is a nice touch, and the fact that they use the MCP-T with the nVidia APU so you get soundstorm quality audio if you add a S/PDIF makes it a sweet HTPC or budget boxen. I dropped 1700+ B's in, set the FSB to 166 to run synch with the Corsair VS 2700DDR in dual channel and they scored 4500+ 3Dmock2k1.

I did have one small glitch with the one I built for my mom-in-law though, during transport it somehow ended up with the video getting FUBARed so when I tried to boot it it would go to a black screen  I booted to safe mode and all was well, reboot and black screen again, so I reinstalled the det's and problem solved. Anywho, it's been running rock solid for months now, I just need to get over there and play with the twin view some more to see what it's capable of

I agree super sweet board for all the bells and whistles....60 bucks for that board almost seems like stealing, huh???

Dapunisher, No way to change the multipliers with this board that you know of??? If I coul drop it to say a 12x multiplier I could run 166fsb easy since I am running 2ghz now. However it is at 152fsb and I am concerned there is no agp lock so this may be putting strain on pci bus. What do you know about locking???

Duvie, nForce2 boards automatically lock the AGP\PCI buses so don't worry about 'straining' them.

EDIT: Get that sucker folding! :)

Sort the HSF out on that sucker and push it!

57c is not going to garner you any more ticks. COOL IT :D

I haven't seen anyone mod the MN31N to allow multi adjustments and modding the CPU for the multi and voltage is probably the only option It sounds like it's already plenty for what the Mrs. does though so I wouldn't bother ;) The AGP/PCI is locked on the nF2 boards as Monkey pointed out, the only one I've ever heard of not having it was a MSI model with a bios bug that prevented it.

Put some AS on the chip and reset the heatsink....I am at 2.08ghz with 160fsb and 320mhz ddr and I am priming for the last 2 hours and the temp hasn't gone above 55c now. Still default vcore or around 1.57v actual....

That's a damned good overclock on that Vcore, in another board that chip may be a 2.4ghz beauty like the 2100+ B I had

What is a good hsf for these chips with say a 70-80mm low audible panaflo fan or something...I can try to do this without the wife knowig it and make it my little secret project.

I am thinking about having F&h going in the background cause the stuff she runs she will know the difference....

Hate to bust in on the topic, but I just can't believe your vcore! My 1600+ is still running at the default of 1.75, 1.79 actual. Is that bad? (I'm not ocing)

You likely have a older .18 micron xp and the default vcore there is 1.75v...board may overvolt a bit....

NOw tbreds I think run 1.6 or 1.65v but it is known for some p4 mobos to undervolt by as much as .07v....

Well 4 hours+ now priming no errors and highest temp is 55c with stock cooling and 2 case fans in a rather empty by my standards pc case. I will likely stay here and then start tweaking the memory a bit. I tried again this morning at 166fsb and no matter the ram timings and a couple other bios setting the chip wouldn't do it....

How can you set voltage higher without bios mods?? Is there a pin mod like the p4 northwood had??? I would be interested in that....

Wife is going to start figuring this out soon....

Tha gammar is hard to understand, but is he syaing that regardless of the pin config I still need to cut the L11 bridges to be able to change the vcore settings??? I have no options in the bios for vcore or multiplier...

You can just raise the Vcore by using the pin mod guide since there are no bios selections for it. For instance, if you select T-bred, 1.8v, and 13x multiplier it will show you which pins to wire in order to have 1.8v be the Vcore. Unfortunately, with so many pins involved it's a real project, although it should be much less likely to result in a dead chip than the odds of it happening by modding the CPU itself.

Tbred B's run at either 1.5 or 1.6 Default depending on the Code DUT3C = 1.6v. DLT3C = 1.5v

Since my intention was not to OC I didn't look at the markings on the core....I will be peeling it off to do this so I will look...Likely it is not one of this JIXUB chips so I bet mine is 1.6v. I need to get the cooler first....

1.75v set for 1.72v safe for this 1.6v tbred???? I can almost do 166fsb now so maybe I should jump to 13.5 mult and go to 166fsb for 2.24ghz range and call it good!!!
