😕
Why do you have to buy a new car because of a head gasket or transmission? IIRC, both of these parts can be changed, often for less than the cost of a new car. I could be wrong.
That reminds me, I need to stop and buy some blinker fluid on my way home...

keep fighting the good fight...you will be ok.

It sucks when you cant trust your vehicle on the road. I've been there.

when you can afford it, it will be that much more sweet!

LOLOLOLOL!!!

Great replies!!!

I'm going to take her to the dealership on Sat and get her inside the car I want and maybe that'll do the trick. 😉

(BTW: It's an 03 Impala... Quite cheap. Payments under $200 a month and my insurance will only go up $30.00 per month.)

You can get a sweet deal on a replacement engine or what-have-you from one of the Volvo forums, you might try turbobricks.com (even though it's a GLE) or one of the others. You just might be able to get an entire parts car for less than the cost of a car payment on a new car.

The engine is the only thing in good shape. I replaced the engine 2 years ago. It's the suspension, brakes, 3 of the 4 door handles are broken, interior seats ripped to crap, lots of body damage from her accident, etc etc etc.

Wha???? She gets it into an accident, then says you can't get a replacement car? NEW WIFE!!! Tell her to get back in the kitchen to make some sammiches while you go buy a car and do man things.

C'mon guys. My relationship isn't the greatest, but it still *IS* a partnership. That means taking her opinion seriously.

I just need to keep working on her. That's all.

how much do you have in your budget for car repairs? that money spent on fixing the tranny, a/c, motor/ timing belt, master cylinder, c/v joints, etc may be better spent on a new(er) vehicle...

Why don't you buy a reliable, used car for $2k or so? That won't break the budget, and will be better than your current car.

That's about $1995 more than I have... 😉

Your trouble is the whole "asking permission" thingy. When acquiring a new vehicle, I traditionally show up with it. Pisses her off a bit. Otherwise we'd both be driving mini-vans.

Edit: She's prolly squirilling money away at wal-mart for the impending date when they rediscover your manhood.

Pee sitting down too?
