So this PSU has been powering my PC fine for 7+ years. Had some issue with coil whine with a 4890 when i first got it but since swapping that gpu for SLI GTX 460's its been perfect. Runs fine with RX 480 too, no whine.
Few months ago i noticed when i turned off the PC that the PSU was emitting a weird sound, not like coil whine at all more of a lower pitch sound, and not as loud. More like a humming sound. This always happens when i turn it off now, sound is always the same regardless of how long pc has been on, i can game for hours or immediately turn it off after cold boot and sound is the same, so i dont think its heat related at all.
And sometimes not all times but maybe 50% of the time the fan will spin REALLY slow after PC is off, as in i can count the revolutions per min on one hand slow, so slow it may actually be doing it more often i just dont notice.
Turning switch on PSU off immediately stops the sound, but not the slow fan spin, the slow fan spin always happens for 20-30 seconds(when it happens, doesnt always do it) after turning off PC even if i flip the power switch right away as soon as PC is off.
Never seen anything like this before.
PSU is clean and dust free, more so since i cracked it open to inspect the circuit board for damage after realizing i had this issue. No signs of damage burnt components or anything else out of the ordinary.
You guys think im ok to keep using it till my ryzen build or should i expedite my plans for ryzen lol. It would really be a shame to loose this pc to a PSU going bad, its served me so well for so long.
