widescreen monitor owners, what resolutions do you usually play at?

Just curious if everyone plays at the naitive res of their monitors (in my case 1680 x 1050) or if you turn it down for the games....I only play one game, COD2, and find it kinda sluggish if I push it that high, figure it is my system as a holdback specifically my 6800gt but didn't know what others played at.

Thanks

I think in most of the games I play, there aren't any other widescreen resolutions available other than the native resolution of the monitor I'm connected to (in my laptop's case, 1280x800; for my desktop, 1680x1050).

My native is 2560x1680, but my computer can't handle that. So I play everything at 1680x1050, doh.

also 1680x1050, but if the game stretch or otherwise limit the gaming experience in widescreen, I've made a custom 4:3 resolution of 1400x1050.

1680x1050, I have an ATI x1950 pro and haven't had any problems. I mainly play BF2, HL2, Episode 1 and 2, TF2, C&C 3...I have everything at high settings on every game and ever game runs perfectly for me.

I play at native resolution. If you play at exactly half the dimensions though, you shouldn't lose any visual quality due to scaling. Of course...its hard to get most games to play at 840x525!

1680 x 1050 for me too ... not stressing my video card nearly enough.

1920x1200 for everything. If necessary I will adjust other settings downward to ensure I can play comfortably at this resolution, but that does not happen very often as my video cards can handle most games (that I play anyway) right now.

Only playing CS:S right now, waiting for the 8800 and rv670 battle to declare a winner before I upgrade my card.

Native resolution for me is 1680 x 1050 and I have an X1950Pro video card.

I play Half-Life 2-based games at native resolution, as well as Battlefield 2 IIRC. Unreal Tournament 3 I have it turned down but I'm sure I can increase the resolution, just haven't tried yet. I haven't played C&C 3 in a long time, nor Company of Heroes, so I'm not sure what I was running those at (plus I'm at work so I can't check).

My native is 1920x1200 but with my rig, that can be very taxing. I usually play at 1680x1050 if the game allows or even lower depending on the game. I have 4400X2 and 7800GTX.

My native is 1680x1050 (22") and that's why I play at. I have a 8800GTS 640MB and so far, I'm very happy with its performance at this resolution.

Same here.:) The system in my sig is not even breaking a sweat at that res. Considering going 24" WS soon.

Native resolution of 1440x900. I haven't seen 1920x1200 but this looks great with AA and everything maxed but I'm sure it could also look a little better but I save a whole lot of money this way.

I play everything I can at 1920 x 1200, which is the native res of my 24" Samsung. I drive this with an 8800GTX. Most newer games let you play at this resolution, and a few of the older ones.

1920x1200 on my desktop, 1440x900 on my macbook pro, and 1920x1080 on my htpc. i dont care if i have to turn the details down...my theory is maximum resolution, then turn down details.
