Guys, it's a freakin' WATER BOTTLE. It's plastic, has a screw on lid with a squirt cap and it holds WATER.

Nalgene my ass. You're paying $$$ for a freakin' plastic water bottle I could buy for $.99 at the Dollar Store.

Nalgene bottles are made of Lexan, so they don't warp and are damn near impossible to break. If you're using the water bottle to go to the gym, it doesn't really matter much, but if you were to go hiking or biking with it, a tough water bottle is useful.

there's no squirt cap you dumbas$, raynors got it right
a friend has dropped her nalgene off a 1000 foot cliff and it didnt break, good thing since it had water in there for their 3 day trip
we could also use the bottle to beat your ignorant as$
Actually, nalgene makes water bottles with squirt caps...would you like me to take a picture?

Wide.

10x easier to fill (Mine doubles as a protein mixer)
If you're that worried about over-pouring or drinking while walking, you can get a splashguard for $3.

Edit: fixed link

I have the wide-mouth one (sitting right next to me, in fact) with a thingy from EMS that sits in the neck to create a nice little drinking hole that doesn't slosh water all over you.

Wide mouth with a splash guard, right here with me.

That + the water cooler here at work & I drink a lot of water.

I prefer the narrow mouth, as its still large enough to let a lot of water flow. However, they have a medium sized one, now, that's right inbetween the two, and if they would make it in the 1L size, it would be perfect.

Maybe if you're into hardcore hiking, I guess you would need something that you can drop off a cliff... but yeah, otherwise there's $1 and Wal*Mart.

Whoever in the hell pays that much for these that isn't routinely in situations where they NEED water to survive and are IN RISK of bottle breakage is an idiot. I have a buddy that dropped like $30 on one and I continually dog him for it. Personally, I have used many water bottles over the years doing plenty of crazy stuff, and I have never broken a water bottle.

For example, the fumbducks that bring these to the gym to run and lift weights... wtf are you thinking... worst comes to worst you magically drop a 65 lb plate on your water bottle and it cracks, but LOOK! THERE'S A DRINKING FOUNTAIN!!

Now I can understand professional athletes, and "extreme" sport enthusiasts having these, but the average joe, or hell the EXTREMELY ACTIVE person is a idiot to spend up to $30 on a water bottle, unless it gives you a HJ when you are done drinking it.

$30 / bottle? What a freakin idiot. I've never paid more than $8 for one. I take mine skiing in the mountains, moutain biking, and hiking. It won't break.

The other HUGE advantage that nobody has stated, is that your water tastes like water when you drink it. It doesn't taste like plastic, like anything that's been in a cheapo water bottle for 5 minutes does. I can leave it in the trunk of my car with leftover water in it for a week, throw some ice in, and it still tastes fresh.

Nalgene bottles are worth it.

yes lexane is awsome becase it doesnt take teh taste of what you put in it, hell ive filled mine with rum, vodka, juice, beer, and give it a quick rince, fill it with water and you have .... WATER, its so great

they recomend these to people going over sees because they wont hold bacteria and stuff as well

they do make soft nalgenes, look on their site, thay have squirt tops, they also make ones for chem use, for distilled water and such

ive never seen one cost more then 10$
i just ordered a new one from online and it cost 8$ after shipping and tax, whoever paied 30$ for one is a moron

they do make a 1L one, but only wide mouth, and its huge, same size around just 2x as tall

Nalgenes are not that expensive, especially considering their long lifespan.

However, the price and longetivity should not interest you nearly as much as the fact that Lexan does not break down the way PET does when you wash it, nor does it amass bacteria as readily as PET.

That's what I was going to bring up. They don't retain the taste of whatever was in them. They last pretty much forever, and they're really not that expensive. I have both narrow and wide, but I use the wide a lot more.

1L is huge? I think I'm going to get a nalgene, I've been using 1.5 liter dasani bottles over, and they are difficult to clean, and if someone puts them in the diswasher they're done. I've had to use a 16oz gatorade bottle for the past couple of days and it sucks, I have to refill it like once every 45min to an hour.

If you don't want to wait for an order, Dick's Sporting Goods and Sports Authority carry them for the same price, and sometimes slightly less than the nalgene outdoor store.

I have one, but I don't use it much. It's good that it doesn't melt or deform, so I can put hot tea in it. Other than that, I preffer those sportcaps I get at trader Joes for 30 cents with water in them.
I wouldn't call them a waste of money, since they do last essentially forever. They are kinda like LL Bean backpacks. Can't break them.

Yes they are pretty much unbreakable but my friend was able to break one a while ago from just droping one from like 5 feet in the air onto an asphalt parking lot. I think there was a problem with the bottle though because it should not have broken then. Does anyone know if there really is a warrantly on these if you are ever able to break them because that is what I have always heard but I have never known if it was the truth???

call them and ask, if it breaks like that it should be replaced

we broke one by filling it compleatly full of water and hurling it off a 4 story building on to concrete, it broke after the 5th toss
