Not that I want anyone to go hungry, but hunger is a driving force to get people off their butts. I wonder how many parents who have children drawing WIC voted in the last election? Maybe this shutdown will piss enough of those parents off so they vote in the next election.

When 9 million people go hungry, something will have to give.

The people who need the government food benefits are the same people who need the Obamacare insurance discounts, though.

It's pretty obvious that the Republicans weren't going to get any votes from these people anyway.

WIC is by intent a program designed to give support to people who don't deserve any.

If you can't feed yourself maybe you shouldn't be having children?

Some of the areas with the highest proportion of food stamp recipients are extremely conservative. What will be interesting is if they change their tune when confronted with the consequences of their ideology.

Right. Punish the children for the sins of the parent. Every God fearing Jew knows this.
 
If you're a baby and you want to survive, don't have a mother that is irresponsible and lacks good income. It's really that simple.
 
As much as I believe in people being held accountable for their actions, the children should not have to suffer because the parents are poor.

Also, sometimes people fall on hard times. If the program can help a family not go hungry, that is a good thing.

Maybe people should get their tubes tied (vasectomy and such), and when people are ready to have children, they have to prove to the govt that they can bear moral/ethical/physical/mental/financial responsibility. Then the to-be parents can have reverse-vasectomies done. Problem solved!

Withholding benefits also punishes people for being unlucky.

Actually they are going hungry because millions of women choose to have children they couldn't feed.

Then they want to extort money from others to pay for their choices.

I believe this kind of logic was called terrorism in the shutdown thread.

Losing your job to China has nothing to do with luck. Only lazy people who don't train for other jobs when their current job becomes outsourceable have that problem. The people that really need help are the ones who have a really bad run at the craps tables, according to you anyway.

Infants
Children

How are you justifying the blame on the Infants and Children that the WIC is intended on supporting.

A woman with no male provider with children (for what ever reason) will need help. WIC is intended for food that meets certain nutritional guidelines to help feed the family properly.

You desire to penalize the children and infants because of a flaw in an adult.

WIC is intended to support the poor life choices of women. It is nothing short of extortion. A tactic I believe was called terrorism in the government shutdown thread.

Why should I care about families I am definitionaly excluded from?

I am not the one CHOOSING to have a child I cannot support. The woman choosing to have a child without a male provider is the one desiring to penalize her own children.
