$2000 for an Xbox 360 vs $1000~$1500 for a kick ass PC with better controls, and cheaper games.
Why would you buy an Xbox 360?!?!?

this is flamebait and a repost.

to answer your question, I wouldn't. the only reason I have an xbox1 right now is because I waited 2 years, and bought a used one off of the FS/FT forums.

Spending more than $399 is insane. For $399 it's probably worth it for a lot of people. Personally, I can wait a few more years before I retire my PS2. My game PC gets upgraded every year.

How about you use MSRP instead of tacking on a 500% profit then make the same post. You're saying 'Why would you drive a 100000k Civic when you can get a Ferrari for 150k'.

Who would buy a plastic/metal box that requires wires for a game?

I could buy a small leather/plastic, spherical pbject and have more fun playing football for hours on end than gaming. It also means EXERCISE and GETTING FIT too.

(by the way, I stay on the side of PC's. 1 box for all I need takes up less space than 2)

because PC gaming is terribly overpriced for a top-rig at the moment - $1500 for sli'd 7800GTX"ultras" . . . just for the GPUs . . . their price will not drop much [as their upgrade will be at least as expensive - every year] . . .

otoh, the xbox360 will shortly be $400 and will absolutely blow-away PC gaming for the next 18 months as best bang-for-buck

not to mention most games will be developed first for the platforms and then ported to the PC.

JAlba!
For the WIN!

Back to the issue at hand.
I think there are going to be many, many kids waking up on Xmas morning and being pissed off.
Those cheap 360 systems were designed to trick parents into buying them. They dont know any better and the kids are gonna suffer for it.

Actually, I kind of like that idea. American kids are fvcking spoiled nowadays. They need a little disappointment in their lives.

Nope. Nvidia 7800GTX 512MB is like 700 dollars
AMD FX 57 is 1000 dollars
2GB of OCZ Titanium is 300 dollars
Looks like thats 2000 already. I didn't even factor in Power supply/keyboard/mouse/hard drive/cd player/case.

Hello apple, your friend orange has come to play. Try that "spec me" again, but this time keep in mind your final product is designed to game at the same screen resolution as the X360 (720i or something? Gee a 6600GT can play Quake IV in that!) :)

lol...you don't need a top rig to enjoy the new games. you certainly don't need sli'd video cards. what a waste of money.

and what about your 50'' HDTV? that's gonna be a hefty sum right there, not including the overpriced 360's at the moment. hell, you can make a decent gaming rig for ~$500:

6600GT: 100-150
sempron 64+ mobo: 75
1 gig ram: 75
case/psu: 50
monitor: 150
mouse/keyboard: 50 tops?

lets add that up... hmmm, 300... 400.. 550!

that will run quake/doom at 1024x768, minimum.. might even get 1280 out of it

a fifty inch HDTV?

Where's your 32 inch Apple cinematic display. :p
nice "comparison"
[not]

and your 6600GT is not gonna run much beyond Q4 . . . the soon-to-be reasonably priced xbox360 should be good to go for at least a couple more years.

At which time current hardware will cost less as well. Please, leave the speculation unstated.

no you still don't get it . . . the xBox360 will shortly be at MSRP . . . UPgrading your PC will get MORE expensive [top GPUS are now ~$700].

for ONE GPU . . .sli is outtasight
:Q

and the xBox360's gfx will get much better over the next two years - at no extra cost to me UNlike PC gaming
