as spelled out in the Book of Revelation, which go something like this: First there is the Rapture, in which God's loyal followers suddenly disappear from Earth and enter his kingdom. Then comes the Tribulation, a seven-year period of rule by the Antichrist and severe hardship on Earth. During this time, nonbelievers who remain on Earth will have a chance to convert to Christianity but will be hounded by the Antichrist and his minions. Then comes Armageddon, when God comes back to defeat Satan in a devastating battle. Ultimately, there is Judgment Day, when those who are with God live on in Paradise, and others are eternally condemned to Hell.
Why bother with the devastating battle if there's a predetermined conclusion? Maybe satan throws the game, after betting heavily on god...j/k 😉
But seriously, someone explain the point of this...
Just one of the many flaws of christianity.
I swear, this is a classic case of force-fed bigotry and prejudice.
I thought Chrisitianity was based on LOVE...not sending people different then you to a firery pit for eternity.
😉
no mention of firery pit for eternity.
"wages sin pays is death", not burn forever.
bible refers to satan as "a roaring lion seeking to devour" everyone he can "for he knows he only has a short time."
and just so you know, we are in the great tribulation now. look around you. "critical times hard to deal with" "having no natural affection"
also, jesus said you will know my followers because they have love for one another. so if you're going to a crazy church that preaches hell, or damnation, or that doesn't nurture and really emphasize learning and brotherly love, then you're in the wrong boat, fella.
So...who's the anti-christ then?
We're not in the tribulation period right now, because the rature hasn't occured yet. Though if things continue the way they are are going now, the rapture may not be far off in the future.
how do you know that the "rapture hasn't occured yet? did you get a newsletter?
I know the rapture hasn't happened yet because I'm still here and the rapture will be a fantastic event, with millions of born again christians disappearing. Not to mention that the world hasn't *quite* reached the point of utter depravity that is mentioned in the Bible. And there are many antichrists but "the" antichrist is a singular person mentioned in the book of Revelation
man religion makes my head spin 😉

LOL.... depravity. driving your kids into a lake, killing your preggo wife, having sex with virgins to avert aids, a 6yr old shooting another 6yr old at school. the blatant disregard for the state of the environment. any more depraved and we'd all be dead.
and i'm gonna need scripture to back up the fantastic rapture you speak of.

That's because religion is made up fiction, based on NOTHING but wishful thinking, IN MY OPINION.

You should then append any such post stating an opposing point of view with the same phrase. Why? Because it is ALL opinion. And why's that? Because it is based on nothing but wishful thinking...

Romans 6:21-32 accurately describes our world today:
"26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. 28 Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them."
And yes, the rapture will be an awesome event (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18):
3 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

How illogical. And itself spiteful (which actually only appears to be ironic). The state of existence is perfect (because it can be no other way, nothing exists outside existence). The only imperfections lie within your own perspective, and "bad" is an emotional perspective. The answer to the last statement is simple: because you will not let Him. Your reality is your own creation.Originally posted by: dainthomas
"God either wants to eliminate bad things and cannot, or can but does not want to, or neither wishes to nor can, or both wants to and can. If he wants to and cannot, he is weak -- and this does not apply to god. If he can but does not want to, then he is spiteful -- which is equally foreign to god's nature. If he neither wants to nor can, he is both weak and spiteful and so not a god. If he wants to and can, which is the only thing fitting for a god, where then do bad things come from? Or why does he not eliminate them?"

You point to "faith" like it's some amazing thing that is utterly wonderful and mystical. In reality, "faith" is merely belief in something without evidence.
In other words, wishful thinking 🙂

In this context faith goes well beyond wishful thinking in the absence of evidence. Faith requires acceptance in the face of contrary evidence and in the face of reason. Reason and evidence must be subordinated to faith.
