Wow, I see a number of people "sticking up for me." ;) I appreciate that and I'm surprised, I didn't even realize that people here remembered my posts, or who I was. Thanks guys. :)

BUT

I think Riprorin and I are both seeing each other's side of the story now, I was wrong in some senses, and I admit that now. How I reacted was a bit childish, and I'm not proud of it. But I think Ripiron is understanding why I feel mistreated a bit more than he initially did.

So, no need to fling mud around (Deeko, I love you buddy but yes, I mean you, among others;)). I appreciate the support, but let's not all sit around yelling at each other.

I've considered it as sort of an act of charity. But since I don't need the paycheck and I have plenty of responsibility raising my own kids at the moment, it will have to wait. I respect those who are in the field now, as I was raised by a mother who taught elementary school. She still has people coming up to her in the streets and thanking her to this day. A good teacher is one of the most precious things anyone can ever experience.

<---may one day be a Sister of Mercy in the classroom, if she feels the calling strongly enough

Deeko, I'm not a teacher - just sticking up for them. The ones I know are dedicated and try their best for very modest compensation. They deserve better than what they get.

I have a friend and co-worker who recently gave up a 90k/year job in industry for a job teaching chemistry at a catholic high school at less than half the pay. He graduated college magna cum laude and went to grad school at an ivy league university. Do you think he has to earn the respect of 16 year olds or should it be granted to him?

Most my teachers are awesome. Private school so they don't get quite as much as a public school. Some are cool and are highly respected. They get their job done without being a$$es ... simple as that.

Check out this post on another thread. Scary. I like the bit about the $175 shoes. This kid must go to Beverly Hills 90210.

<< BTW, if you were my kid and you told me you mouthed off to a teacher I'd kick your little wise a$$. [/i] >>

<< No wonder schools are so screwed up - most parents are clueless and pamper their little brats. [/i] >>

I don't know about any other parents here but mine would have been pissed if the teacher knew the circumstances, yelled at me in front of the class for no true reason, and then goes on to teach the same useless crap in class. My dad would have told me to say something like he John did if I was in the same situation.

<< Personally, I'll give the benefit of the doubt to a teacher over a pimply faced kid. >>

If that was my kid chances are I would believe him over some skinny a$$ teacher who is just a plain b!tch. Of course unless I know my kid has a tendency to lie.

<< The teacher was being a complete a$$ or in a pissy mood. >>

I've gone to private schools from Junior High on up. There is maybe 1 teacher that I do not respect. Has he earned it? No. Why? Cause he has been an a$$ on several occasions to me. Just me? No, so that rules out that I am a smart ass. I witnessed first hand something that "HE" started with a student and the student got back at him joking around as well. He went anal and grabbed him by the shoulder telling him to calm done. He was very serious. Was this called for? No. The guy started stomping on this students $175 dress boots. Thats not the end nor the beginning.

If you think I teacher like that deserves respect no matter what. Something is wrong with you.
