It seems like credit card companies would start stomping ass if they were getting consistent reports about certain stores doing that.

Random Anecdote: A few months ago Target double charged me on a cc purchase. I went to look again the next day, and they had refunded the the extra charge, before I even contacted them.

actually, I think getting scammed using cash is far more prevalent.

yep. I still have no idea why people use a card for such purchases.

Everything I do, whether it be gas, lunch, groceries, goes on the card. It's a convenient way for me to track expenses, and I don't carry a lot of cash that way. Plus I want all the reward points I can get. ;)

Uh why would a second credit card charge change the amount of money that's supposed to be in the til? I don't get how this supposed scam works, if they pull money from the drawer it'll still be short the amount they pulled, running a credit card through has nothing to do with the cash count unless the register system is really crappy or something..

I don't have the answers, just guessing. I'm just finding this to be a bit weird.
