I just want to see a 10 year old kid who spends his time playing american football with his friends and enjoys it. I have never seen that, and I can't imagine that such kids even exist, but if they do exist I'm very sad for them. Explain to me how 10 year old kids can play football for fun (?!). Only kids that are not taught any other game might think playing football is fun. The OP seems to suggest he was such a kid. I feel sorry for him.

Translation: I don't like American Football and I don't see how anyone else likes it, either.

When I was 10 I loved playing football. Since it's a team game, then obviously the people I played with enjoyed playing it as well.

I can see how people would like soccer. But to say that you can't imagine the existence of kids that like football (the #1 spectator sport in the US) is just a troll.

I think in today's age, it would be better to say "why is sitting around on your ass doing nothing so popular". Whether the person is playing football, soccer, rugby, tennis, etc, they're getting exercise. Sadly, more and more kids choose to stay home, play NO sports, and get fat.

I used to play soccer, but then I got into football. I find football much more exciting because it's more physical. I've found that skinny dweebs like soccer because they have no upper body strength and can only kick.
Flexing your ePenis?

Football is for losers. Morons with short attention spans. 5 seconds of action followed by two minutes of advertisements.

Half of the players on a football team have no athletic ability. Their only redeeming quality that gets them a spot on the team is size.

That is just garbage. First of all, there are no advertisements when you play football on a team, unless you're on a college/pro team.

Secondly, football players are much more athletic than soccer players. Anyone can run. But can you run, get tackled, then get back up and do it again? I guarantee that a soccer player would be broken by the end of the game.

Like I said, I've played soccer and I'll still play soccer, but it doesn't compare to football. I'll do both, let's see a soccer player do both. They'll lack the required muscularity to take hard hits in football.

we did full upper body as well in highschool for soccer. Football players will never be anywhere near the same level of fitness as a soccerplayer. I don't think most football players could handle actually having to run, or for that matter move.

On the other hand you can beat the hellout of a soccerplayer and they will keep on taking it.

Really? You had me fooled, I thought thats all that RUNNING BACKS, WIDE RECEIVERS, and DEFENSIVE BACKS did the ENTIRE FVCKING GAME.

Jesus christ, are some of you really that fvcking dense?

Yeah, it seems silly to argue about which sport is better when you put things into perspective. As I play football or someone else plays soccer, yet another person is sitting home, watching TV, guzzling a 3-liter of coke.

those of you on either extreme side really need to wake up. in third world countries, kids enjoy playing ball with a fruit. not sure wtf they do with it, but they enjoy it. heck, little kids enjoy spinning in circles. bigger ones enjoy running around doing nothing. the fact that you don't like it doesn't discourage them one bit.

american football is indeed fun. many of us play it with our friends. yes, "let's go play some football" happens frequently. watching pros can be enjoyable too.

get off your high horses and stop being a troll denouncing anything that is foreign to you! take golf, indeed a foreign concept to most everyone, but once you whack a few at the range, it can be fun.

yes misterj, everything is the same and for the sake of world peace we should all agree and not argue. Fact is soccer is a lot more popular. Fact is "let's go play some football" happens about 1000 less frequently then "let's go play some soccer". Even in the US today (not 50 years ago), "lets go play soccer" happen at least 10 times more frequently. Notice that difference from watching it on TV in the US, where football has an entranched lead over soccer ($$$). Can you see anything wrong with that ? Anyway, that's not the point. The point is people, even in the US today, prefer to PLAY soccer because of obvious reasons - it's safer, anyone can play it, it is a better aearobic excersize, it requires more diverse skills, no special equipment, better team work, simple to understand rules, and can be played in almost any environment. These are FACTS which explain the INITIAL FACT of why is soccer MORE popular then football. You can say they are both popular, just realize they're on a completely different scale, as american football is a marginal sport compared to soccer worldwide.

You are trolling. Please STFU. By the end of this thread, everyone was pretty much trying to get along, and you jumped in and are trying to stir it back up.

What he said is the fact though, there is nothing to argue about.

Not everything he said was fact. He said that hardly any people enjoy playing football.

He said, "I just want to see a 10 year old kid who spends his time playing american football with his friends and enjoys it. I have never seen that, and I can't imagine that such kids even exist"

That is quite obviously a troll. His subsequent posts did nothing but continue the troll.

Nobody is denying that on a worldwide scale, soccer is the most popular sport. But to bash football saying that no kid wants to play it, that's just ludicrous.

odd, even in elementary and junior high, my friends and i, and everyone else at school, loved to play football. we played it during recess, and lunch. we played it afterschool. i've played it with relatives. i even tried out for the team in highschool. wow, come to think of it, football is the most popular sport in every highschool in america.
yet, you say we play it 10x less frequently than soccer? for me, it was the opposite. i guarantee you most americans are the same way.

where the heck did you come up with these "FACTS"? we like football. yes, soccer is more popular worldwide because the rest of the world likes it. we like football more. get over it!

Admittedly I grew up in a time when soccer just wasn't played by kids. It was either baseball or football as far as organized sports went. Now it seems like every kid wants to play soccer. Why? When did it suddenly become the youth sport to play?

I've asked a few of my cousins why they play and the majority of the time the answer I hear is "because it is cool." Umm, ok I suppose. A couple of them have even told me they like football or baseball better but that those aren't cool sports to play. WTF?

maybe youre mad cause youre not cool
That must be it.

soccer rules, and what sport unites a country to cheer for the same team?? i mean the us does not really have a team that the whole country can be proud of.(any sport) .. something that breaks all barriers and let's everybody be cheering for the same cause.
