No talent, yea right. Hmm...they can sing better than 99% of the people in the world, they can dance while singing with little loss of quality, and they can flawlessly perform in front of millions of people. Sure, plenty of people can do that, but it still takes talent, I know I couldn't do it.
obviously you haven't ever been anywhere near the music industry, and i am in the music industry, so feel free to call me a moron (ha). boy bands come and they go, and you want to know why? the 10-17 year old girls who love them realize that they have no real talent. Look at New Kids on the block. To be a talent in the music industry you have to have a talent. NSYNC does not write their music, lyrics, and they can't even play an instrument, so that doesn't make them talented, that makes them morons. it doesn't take talent to dance and sing, just practice. I remember on an awards show about a year ago they had an "old man boy band" that made fun of the the boy bands and they did the same things as nsync and the bsbs and they were all over the age of 65!
the funny thing is, people think that the boy bands are making huge money, but they are't (for themselves at least). you know who does? the people who have the talent and write their music, lyrics, and publicize them. NSYNC clears about $1.25 per album to split up between them (that's 25 cents a piece), while the song writers get four times that. so you tell me, who are the morons?
That is what is wrong with the music industry, their are too many "pretty faces" being pawns for others. too many one hit wonders just trying to make a buck and not actually worrying about putting a good product out there. Ten years from now people will still be listening to music from real artists like nirvana, nine inch nails, tool, dr. dre, emenim, and rage against the machine because their music lives on wheather they do or not. you know how i know this, because it takes place now. bands like depeche mode, the cure, and nine inch nails songs from ten years ago are played on the radio all the time in the mainstream, but when was the last time anyone heard new kids on the block or mc hammer? you see, if and when nsync and the bite size boys die out, and they will just like vanilla ice, and the other pawns of the early 90's, another groove of commercially driven clones will take their place. but there will always be those bands and artists that are constants in the industry because they actually enjoy making quality art for their fans. sooner or later america's troubled youth will grow tired of non-thought provoking acts and lyrics like "nookie" and "bye bye bye"
america is continually turning itself into a sespool of mediocrity with people buying into so many fake things such as professional wrestling, survivor, who wants to be a millionaire, and one hit wonders in the music industry. it just amazes me how little people think for themselves these days.
"its' a sh!te state of affairs!"
