<< Are you going to say their magic shoes allowed them to dance too? >>

No but if they had any singing talent they wouldn't have to dance around to make them seem interesting.

Boy bands are worthless. I could walk into a church and pick 5 guys out of a choir and have a successful boy band. all I'd have to do is hire a choreographer and someone to write songs for them.

Then there'd obviously be a bunch of bitter men whining, "but they didn't move", they suckers.

<< I could walk into a church and pick 5 guys out of a choir and have a successful boy band. >>

Please, prove it. You'd make millions and prove me wrong..nothing bad can come out of it.

Otherwise if you can't do it, then please, it'd be best if you kept to yourself.

Whatever. The only song of *N Sync's that I like would be Bye Bye Bye...well, I heard a kick ass remix of it and it was good, anyway. :)

I think Deeko is the one who knows most about the Boy Bands of today...I think we should leave him alone, and respect his opinion.

Ok, just a little info I heard on the radio....the people at the stadium sell tickets that are only to the halftime show (hence the reason all the people on the field were teenage girls)...the radio station here was even giving away tickets to just the halftime show. That could be a major factor why N'Sync and Britney Spears were there, but it could also be that just as millions of people watch the Bowl just for the commercials, millions watch just because of the halftime show, or it could be that they're two of the highest grossing recording artists out there right now. And to comment on the bashing of the different types of music out there...I thought that was great...Nelly rapping to Aerosmith's tunes was amazing. Personally though, I would've rather had Dave there. :D

to sum it up... NSYNC is a group of no-talent-assclowns, which can be ammusing to watch sometimes... i mean the fat guy in the band last is FATONE how priceless is that? and don't get me wrong, britney spears is a lot to look at, but that little slut has the personality of a roof shingle.

if i offended you, you can't be old enough to drive.

<< Better than last year's Disney BS. >>

But thats exactly why they were there, disney has such a huge stake in the superbowl now... of course their artists are going to be up there... who else??

Even britney (god she looked trashy, is she finally old enough to be a bar wh*re now??) who I think will be dropped from the disney montage soon, she has lost her "innocent virgin" appeal long ago, and watch her career spiral after that... can you say "you can save up to 44% on your collect calls!! thanks britney!!" she will fit right in with arsenio...

(edit) BTW, as much as I hate to agree with Deeko on issues, it was pretty obvious they were NOT lip syncing, if you were listening.

regardless... if they were lip-synching or not i would much rather watch an episode of survivor then listen to that crap again, so it had to be horrible.

lol here we go :)

<< How about we get five guys who can actually sing up there >>

Considering that they still sang well while doing the dance moves that they do, you'd have a hard time finding other people that can do that.

<< yeah they should change their name to nstink or nsuck >>

that's original.

<< I bet Deeko has achieved Golden member status solely on the merit of his efforts to repeal Boy Band Bashing. >>

Actually, I was well over halfway to Golden before I started going to the OT forum at all. Unlike many of the OT people, I actually split time between OT and the hardware sections :Q

<< The truth is, no one sucks.
It's just that you don't like that kind of music.
>>

This is what I've been saying all along.

<< just showed us once again that their live performances suck. >>

Maybe in your opinion.

<< Boy bands are worthless. I could walk into a church and pick 5 guys out of a choir and have a successful boy band. all I'd have to do is hire a choreographer and someone to write songs for them. >>

Oh yea? If so, then why are there only 3 current boybands that have been around for more than a year? Because you can't just throw people together. LFO proved that, and O-Town is on their way to proving it, too.

<< I think Deeko is the one who knows most about the Boy Bands of today...I think we should leave him alone, and respect his opinion. >>

Yes, that sure would be nice, wouldn't it?

<< Deeko, if you are a guy then you got some problems. >>

Why?

<< to sum it up... NSYNC is a group of no-talent-assclowns >>

No talent, yea right. Hmm...they can sing better than 99% of the people in the world, they can dance while singing with little loss of quality, and they can flawlessly perform in front of millions of people. Sure, plenty of people can do that, but it still takes talent, I know I couldn't do it.

<< if i offended you, you can't be old enough to drive >>

I'm not offended. I just think you're an idiot. And yes I can drive.

obviously you haven't ever been anywhere near the music industry, and i am in the music industry, so feel free to call me a moron (ha). boy bands come and they go, and you want to know why? the 10-17 year old girls who love them realize that they have no real talent. Look at New Kids on the block. To be a talent in the music industry you have to have a talent. NSYNC does not write their music, lyrics, and they can't even play an instrument, so that doesn't make them talented, that makes them morons. it doesn't take talent to dance and sing, just practice. I remember on an awards show about a year ago they had an "old man boy band" that made fun of the the boy bands and they did the same things as nsync and the bsbs and they were all over the age of 65!

the funny thing is, people think that the boy bands are making huge money, but they are't (for themselves at least). you know who does? the people who have the talent and write their music, lyrics, and publicize them. NSYNC clears about $1.25 per album to split up between them (that's 25 cents a piece), while the song writers get four times that. so you tell me, who are the morons?

That is what is wrong with the music industry, their are too many "pretty faces" being pawns for others. too many one hit wonders just trying to make a buck and not actually worrying about putting a good product out there. Ten years from now people will still be listening to music from real artists like nirvana, nine inch nails, tool, dr. dre, emenim, and rage against the machine because their music lives on wheather they do or not. you know how i know this, because it takes place now. bands like depeche mode, the cure, and nine inch nails songs from ten years ago are played on the radio all the time in the mainstream, but when was the last time anyone heard new kids on the block or mc hammer? you see, if and when nsync and the bite size boys die out, and they will just like vanilla ice, and the other pawns of the early 90's, another groove of commercially driven clones will take their place. but there will always be those bands and artists that are constants in the industry because they actually enjoy making quality art for their fans. sooner or later america's troubled youth will grow tired of non-thought provoking acts and lyrics like "nookie" and "bye bye bye"

america is continually turning itself into a sespool of mediocrity with people buying into so many fake things such as professional wrestling, survivor, who wants to be a millionaire, and one hit wonders in the music industry. it just amazes me how little people think for themselves these days.

"its' a sh!te state of affairs!"

You can think that. I know more about boybands than you can imagine.

<< boy bands come and they go >>

Some do, some don't. BSB has been around since '93.

<< NSYNC does not write their music, lyrics, and they can't even play an instrument, so that doesn't make them talented, that makes them morons >>

NSync wrote/cowrote half of the songs on their latest album, and are writing 10 for their next one. Tell me this, suppose, say, JC can play the trumpet. Can JC play the trumpet while in a pop group? Of course not. They are talented, and if you are really in the music industry, you are just crying because they are more successful than you.

<< Ten years from now people will still be listening to music from real artists like nirvana, nine inch nails, tool, dr. dre, emenim, and rage against the machine because their music lives on wheather they do or not. >>

Eminem? No offense to him, I love his music, but he will fade just as quickly as pop music once he is past his prime.

<< bands like depeche mode, the cure, and nine inch nails songs from ten years ago are played on the radio all the time in the mainstream >>

I listen to four mainstream radio stations, none of them play any of those songs. Those songs aren't mainstream, never were, and never will be.

I am sure they dont play them on the stations you listen to. You dont see them on the cover of "teen hunk" magazine, either, which I am sure you subscribe to. Nuff said.

He said they are played on mainstream radio stations. I listen to mainstream radio stations. If he doesn't know what a mainstream radio station is, then he isn't really in the music industry.

btw, why would you say that I'm gay because I like pop music? What if I said that everyone that listened to rock music was gay? Wouldn't make sense would it? Well, it doesn't here either.

<< Some do, some don't. BSB has been around since '93. >>

Umm... but they haven't exactly been popular that long. i mean joey maccentire or however you spell his damn name still sings, but no one listens.

<< NSync wrote/cowrote half of the songs on their latest album, and are writing 10 for their next one. Tell me this, suppose, say, JC can play the trumpet. Umm... just because they watch the person as they create the music doesn't mean they wrote it. they may come up with some of the lyrics, but because they can only play the "trumpet" i find it hard to believe that they write their own music. i do however write my own music, and I write reviews that are used on the web and printed in many magazines and papers nationwide and sorry buddy but they can never be more successful than me, because I don't have to thank anyone for where I am now except me. they have to thank their songwriters, creator/manager, stylists, and about 400 other people because without them, they would all be nobodies....

<< Eminem? No offense to him, I love his music, but he will fade just as quickly as pop music once he is past his prime. >>

Sorry charlie, but whitie is here to stay just like dre.

<< I listen to four mainstream radio stations, none of them play any of those songs. Those songs aren't mainstream, never were, and never will be. >>

once again, i think you are confused. they are not "songs" they are groups. to say depeche mode, the cure, and nine inch nails were never mainstream just shows me even more how little you know. Those bands have sold over 70 million albums combined so I think that settles the fact that they are known. I don't know where the hell you live, but I know the biggest radio stations in the nation all play those groups and always have. KROQ, KROC, and the other 8 big ones nationwide, plus, every major city.

i'm just at a whole other level.

unixfreak, no, I said you insinuated it. And when you made the first comment, I'm sure you had intended to say what you just said, about how "you never said it". You said "maybe they even have a hetero one out there" or something like that, and in the context it was in, well, you know what you said. Also, you said that I subscribe to "teen hunk". Go away.

<< i think that is what we are all affraid of here. eww, "NO JUNGLE LOVE NO JUNGLE LOVE!!!" btw, i guess you have 98degrees tattoed on your arm huh? ha. >>

You wish.

<< Umm... but they haven't exactly been popular that long. >>

What's your point? Most rock supports claim that rock is superior because the bands start small and grow, as opposed to starting big.

<< they may come up with some of the lyrics, but because they can only play the "trumpet" i find it hard to believe that they write their own music. >>

They are singers, why should they have to come up with more than the lyrics? And about playing the trumpet, that was hypotheical, I don't know of they do or not, but that had nothing to do with writing music, it had to do with you saying they can't play instruments. Way to read.

<< Sorry charlie, but whitie is here to stay just like dre >>

I doubt it.

<< once again, i think you are confused. they are not "songs" they are groups. to say depeche mode, the cure, and nine inch nails were never mainstream just shows me even more how little you know. I'm not confused...I'm sorry if I said a wrong word, you know what I meant. And they were never mainstream, do you know what mainstream is? Mainstream does not mean that they are known or that they sell records. Maybe the biggest ROCK stations still play them. Once again, big != mainstream. I said that mainstream stations don't play them, and they don't.

<< i'm just at a whole other level >>

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA, you're right, a level below.

oh, and btw, I don't know or care what you do, but I could say that I'm in the music industry too. I am a DJ. I know more about popular music than you think. I also am a singer. Boy, I wish I was on "your level".

<< so I guess my reply had either factual basis or validity by definition >>

I said I should, I didn't say I would.

Svperstarr,
I'd defintely have to go with the fact that they are making a lot of money. Let's suppose that they do get only $1.25 from each album sold (I think it's more, but not sure)....multiply that by the 10 million albums sold, and divide it by 4 or 5 (not sure how many there are), and you get $3,125,000 or $2,500,000 respectively. I don't know what you consider getting well paid, but I'd love to get that much a year. Once again though, I'd still rather be Dave.
