I try to use Foxit on all my computers but for some reason the interactive pdf I regularly have to fill out doesn't work properly with it.

The latest software to head down the bloat path is utorrent. Why the hell does my supposedly lightweight torrent software need an app store.

Really, PDF as a whole is a neat idea, what makes them suck is that they aren''t exactly "portable" given you need a multi thousand dollar program just to edit them. It would be portable if it was open source and anyone could implement it. Think, html, but with media capabilities built into a single file.

Because Adobe Reader is only one of many applications Adobe suite is used for.

I'd be interested in hearing a Windows users opinion of Evince. I like it on Linux, but never used it on Windows.

Even though Google Chrome is a fraction of the size of adobe acrobat viewer, it includes not just a PDF viewer, but a WHOLE FVCKING browser.

Imagine what the size would be of a web browser program if adobe created it.... gigabytes of pure bloated whale fvck, my friends.

How can adobe reader even have exploits? It makes absolutely no sense. The software shouldn't even have write capabilities.

Steve Jobs is right. Adobe is a piece of shit company and they intentionally make their shit horrible.

Adobe Reader is much more than just a pdf reader.

It has:
a complete mail server, document lifecycle management system, DRM client, full fledged document tracking system, form capabilities, statistics for your docs (imagine sending a survey and tracking the collected data), video AND audio playing capabilities (yes you can embed audio and video in pdf) as well as capabilities for other formats (such as displaying CAD(!) data in its own 3Dviewer).
