i swear, there's an update every 2 weeks.
you're a PDF reading program. you open pdf's and display it on my screen. that's it. functionality has been the same for me 30 fucking revisions ago.

and stop making shortcut icons on my desktop each time you update please.
i will double click the stupid fucking PDF file itself if i need to view it. there's no other reason for me to use your program so the desktop shortcut is pointless.

Because Adobe reader often interfaces directly with your web browser, there are security breaches related to it.

For that reason they have to roll out updates often to patch up new exploits or else we will all be getting infected from reading PDFs.

Enjoy that.

I was surprised that the latest update actually required a reboot.

They've tried to make Acrobat everything for everyone. It supports all manner of multimedia, web integration, even 3d formats now.

Acrobat 3:

Acrobat 9 (there's still a knife in there, right?):

Foxit isn't perfect but it has served me well and is light weight. To hell with Acrobat Reader.

Ha! How about MS Office, that product is old as donkey's ears and yet still is horrible.

Maybe Adobe doesn't want to be in the pdf business anymore and is trying to force the induction of a more competent competitor.

Wasn't a few months ago a report stated that something like 85% of all malware/virus/etc used Adobe PDF reader as the vector? And as if the horrible bloat was enough to dump it.
Seriously, get rid of it ASAP and your life will be that much better. I've been using foxit personally and it has worked out just fine for everything I've needed it for

Adobe has surpassed all other vendors at bloatware. If they updated calculator.exe it would be 60MB and require a 10MB update application, 5MB help file, and a 15MB service that must run in the background to use the application.
