Why the GTX 460 was right for me!

Cause it was so damn cheap!

130$ shipped pics comming soon

It's the GTX 460 1 GB SC edition!

And now it is story time! Well last week a friend of mine in Chicago bought this card to use with his computer and between the time he bought it and received it he changed his mind about it because he got interested in Eyefinity/Surround gaming. So he was planning on sending it back to Newegg or Tigerdirect (IDK where he got it) and was going to buy a HD 6870 (didn't have an SLI board to go SLI GTX 460) I jokingly said I would give him 130$ for it and in 3 hours he messaged me back with a tracking number and said "Merry Christmas."

I was shocked, surprised, and happy. It was brand new didn't even open it and of course picture time!

Care to share where you got that deal? I searched FW, SD, etc. No sign of a GTX460 1GB SC for $130.

That's a heckuva of a price for an EVGA SC 1GB 460. Is it the 720mhz core clock one or the 763mhz core clock one?

A 720mhz 460 1GB is equal in performance to a 6850, so that indeed is one heckuva deal.

And to think I thought I got a good deal back in early October when I got my GTX 460 1GB for $177.99 AR. Crazy how much a couple months make...

OC it to 850MHz and you'll love life 🙂.

I went a little crazy purchasing stuff this past week. These are the deals I got:

ASUS GTX 470 (brand new from Newegg): $210 (Cyber Monday deal)
ASUS GTX 470 (open box from Newegg, a week later): $210
EVGA GTX 470 with Zalman VF3000 cooler: $225 (from this forum)
EVGA GTX 480 (ebay, lightly used): $280, shipped

I certainly don't need all these cards, so I'm now getting rid of 2 470s, keeping the 480 for gaming, and one 470 (the one with the Zalman) for folding.

Might want to email your buddy back and ask him for the rest of the missing screws and whatever else was removed from your "new" card 😱
