But all things considered, an accord or civic with comparable miles appears to sell for more, while being quite less powerful.

I just went shopping a month ago and looked at a lot of them, the 2000s were all around $10k.Originally posted by: BD2003
Not really...blue book value doesnt really top 7k for the 2000s at all, and I've seen plenty around that price range.

Nadaguides.com says $10,775 average retail for the 2000 Ford Mustang G6 Convertible with 60k miles.
KBB.com says $10,845 for the same thing.
Ok subtract $1500-$2000. You still are far above $6000.Originally posted by: BD2003
I wasnt talking about the convertible.![]()

So I'm in the market for a used car, and I'm looking around for something that I can pick up for ~6k with about 60,000 on it. Something sporty.
I've been looking mostly at tiburons and eclipses, and my friend tells me to check out mustangs. I figure way out of my price range, but theyre selling for about the same price, with similar miles. Only the mustang is way more powerful and obviously cooler....I certainly havent heard of any horror stories with them, but I'm last in the loop when it comes to judging how much a car should sell for. Either way, it seems a bit out of place, but I'm sure theres a good explanation.
Whats the deal?
You never mentioned private party. I was going off entirely of retail prices.Originally posted by: BD2003

Ive been advised by too many people to stay the hell away from most mitsubishis because of reliability problems, hidden covers ups etc...
Alright then, if you had $7k to spend MAX, 70,000 miles max, private party, and was looking for a coupe to last about 4 years or so, what would you get, and why?
I should have stayed out of the thread. I brought up the Eclipse since you said you were looking at them. The 2000 Eclipse is above average reliablity just like the Mustang. I'd personally get the Mustang over the Eclipse for personal reasons though. When I did this shopping last month, I agonized over the decision and ended up with a 1999 Acura TL. Yes it costs $3000 more, and I had to get a loan. But the feel of luxury was worth it (plus you have the same sporty engine feel). Not that I'm recommending you go that route.Originally posted by: BD2003

Looks and feel. I can't explain the feel. Both are knockoffs of real sports cars. But the Eclipse felt like a very poor knockoff. At least the Mustang had the right feel of a real sports car. I don't know if I can say much more about it. Just get in both and see what you like.Originally posted by: BD2003
Why personally, would you choose the mustang over the eclipse, on looks?
