I have found that it is actually a fine MP3 player, having used RCA, iRocks, Sandisk, and Creative Labs MP3 players in the past. I find it to be much better built and i have yet to have it lock up on me. Although it does lack a couple of features (voice recording mainly, could care less about FM tuner for the radio stations here suck).

I hate it when people are so hyped by the product, they cannot provide thoughtful pros and cons on that product.
Chances are, >85% of the population at my school will support iPod for the sole reason of "others have it".

Edit:
Personally, I think they aren't that bad. I use a shuffle as a thumbdrive/music player.

as an mp3 player, its fine. it has its pros and cons.

what I don't like about it is that it is a fashion items as much as it is an mp3 player. And I just don't like fashion.

Because anything made by Apple is bad. Just like anything made by Microsoft is bad.

where's all of the above? it's an overpriced, overhyped, 90% of the people won't use it to its potential product

I think it's a neat device, but I would never get one. I'm particuarly sensitive to sound, so I wouldn't be comfortable having earbuds playing music in my ears. Headphones would be too awkwarrd to carry around, I'd worry about dropping or losing it. Oh, and it's pricey, and you can't (easily) replace the battery yourself. But mostly, I wouldn't have a use for any MP3 player.

It's basically the electronic version of the social trend whereby a group of "outsiders" desides that they want to be different by not being the same as everyone else, and grow to loath thsoe that are "the same" even though they themselves, having grown in numbers, are no longer unique.

People hate Ipods because they want to fit in.

Oh the irony.

As a quasiliberal libreatarian librarian who supports conserrvatives' right to remain conservative, I can honestly say that me and my people are against raddishes.

They are red, really bitter, and utterly disgusting.

I find it absolutely appalling that they even get 3/5 of a carrot man's vote.

I say we blend them to hell...

I like my iPod, but I have enough music that I actually needed more than 20gigs... and unfortuantly they stopped the 40gig before I could get one. However I can probably fill the remaing 22gigs on mine... aslong as it doesn't die first.

I know it's not the only large capacity mp3 out there but it's they only one I could save pictures to.
