So,

With new healthcare bill comes a new tax on us and we'll be essentially paying for other peoples health insurance. How in the hell is that right?

because that's how health insurance works?

I'm a healthy guy in my mid 20's. my contributions to my insurance company are pretty much paying for old people's health care and your kids regular check-ups and vaccines.

BS, put up or shut up.

Show me a new tax in this bill that will effect you and provides for others insurance. You can't because there isn't one. If you currently pay for insurance you are currently paying for others healthcare who can't afford it, but not after today

It comes with several new taxes (mostly those will affect only a small subset of the population). It also comes with massive cuts to medicare, and it should help your pocketbook. Why are you complaining about saving tax money?

Plus, most bankruptcies are medical related. If everyone was on proper insurance, we could eliminate a large chunk of those bankruptcies. That will again save you money since you won't have to support those costs anymore.

What the health care bill is missing is building/expanding medical schools and training more doctors (especially paying for their residency). You'd have a logical complaint about paying for that. But, then, it means better access to medical personnel and cheaper medical care due to breaking the AMA union's back. So, that would be a good tradeoff of your tax dollars for more doctors in my opinion.

In Tab's perfect world:

Every home has its own F-16 and Abrams tank, because no one should pay for another's defense.

Every household must build their own roads. Their roads must not cross over another's road and they are not allowed to step foot on any road but their own.

Power plants are destroyed. Every household is to generate its own electricity.

You already pay for other people's health insurance, you just weren't informed enough to know it until now.

This topic has been beaten to death but...
If you were to get hit from behind by some drunk driver, and YOU were really hurt.. would YOU expect someone to call 911? And.. would YOU expect the police, then medical help to arrive on the scene? And... would YOU expect to be rushed to the ER of a local hospital? And YOU are in the ICU for 3 weeks recovering? And YOU leave with a $100,000 medical bill? And YOU work but you DO NOT have insurance by choice? So... YOU expect ME and everyone else reading this thread to PAY for YOU by increased healthcare insurance rates? REALLY...!!!
How the hell is THAT right ???

There's a reason why my catastrophic coverage premium went up 12% every year.

you pay for it anyway.

someone who doesn't have insurance files for bankruptcy when they can't pay their bill. that in turn means higher insurance premiums. at least this way, we have everyone paying into it instead of just the few who have insurance.

Hospitals already charge more so they can afford to pay for the Medicare and the Indigent. So the only thing that is changing is that now there will be government waste also.

Not everyone does. My wife's employer pays 100% of the premiums for our entire family. And before you say that that must come at a decrease in wages, her wages are very competitive for her position in this area.

In other words, I am currently not paying for other people's health insurance, but I will be once my taxes go up as a result of the health-care bill.

Everyone else's wages are also decreased.

In other words, the market rate for her position is lower than it otherwise would be as she pays for the uninsured.

It's apparent what was in place wasn't working therefore not a fair share.

Keep paying up until it works and we'll find out what that number is.

Ah yes, the typical liberal mindset of continually throwing money at a problem until is is "fixed." It is always so much easier to do when it is someone else's money.
